Default Dylanistic - Hip Hop

Alright so this is my songwriting thread. Cool.

Let's cut to the chase.

This is a track I finished recording last week.

It may prompt you to download (depending on your browser), if so just click "Open".

Not really my kind of music, but I downloaded that song, and I'm listening to it right now. It's really good.
So keep up the good work.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Here is a brand new one, featuring Canadian singer Lights.

Listened to that first song, didn't think it was very good.

Dylanist, for some reason my computer wouldn't open your first song or download more than a 5 second mp3, but I *was* able to listen to the song above! I liked its lush sound, the playful but thoughtful lyrics (hey...there's nothing wrong with spinach! ), and the contrast between Lights' pretty, ethereal voice and your rap.

I enjoyed the instrumentals, too...especially the part where some little notes go up the scale quickly (such as around 0:36), and also the places where the chords are held in quite a somber and beautiful way (such as at the end). Did you use acoustic guitar at the beginning? I think you did and if so, I really liked that that. I enjoy the combination of the electronic sound with traditional instruments.

I think my favorite lines are "Can I let the ground do the walking" and "Can I let my mouth do the listening," since these invert the way reality works: our legs do the walking, not the ground; our mouth does the talking, not the listening. I'll have to listen to the song again, since you have packed a lot into the lyrics. I also liked, "I'm afraid the days have a limit," because they do.

I also felt the recording sounds very professional and the words are said/sung clearly, which I liked.

Thanks for listening Vegangelica! We did indeed use an acoustic guitar at the beginning of the track. I agree, I like when synth and acoustics are mixed. Thanks for the compliment and thanks for taking the time out to listen.
