Making the kind of music I do doesn't take any talent anyway

I'm not sure that's true. I wouldn't even know where to begin, honestly, if someone challenged me to replicate your style.

You gotta download an audio clip of some kinda space ship sounds from an obscure sci fi movie then reverse it and add reverb then some delay, reverse it again, more differently configured delay, lower the pitch, reverse, add some wahwah but keep it subtle, put it through a low pass filter, reverse one more time, then cut the tempo in half

Or, you could just play your damn instrument.

I would never make anything like that, but that is exactly why your music can't be dismissed: It has its own feel because there's a specific, personal approach behind it.
If you were deliberately playing by the numbers blues jams or something, making damn sure to never deviate one inch from establsished traditions, then I'd think your stuff had little to no creative spark. Your music is something special, for better or for worse, and that has merit in and of itself.

Some of us can't, ok? I wish I could, though. I actually played electric guitar once, but I gave up because I was frustrated that I couldn't play all the ideas I had in my head. I'm not patient enough for anything else than electronic music composition software.

Just ****ing with ya. What do you think of my clip? I recorded the synth drone and then 100% improvised over it. As the tune was fading out I decided to turn off all melodic instincts and just go nuts.

Kinda proud of the results.

I'd be lying if I said it was bad, cuz it's not, but I'm not the hugest endorser of that kinda guitar tone. It's just very very clean and arena rock. The content's pretty alright.

I have a spaced out free psychedelic island guitar track https://fjfmusic.bandcamp.com/track/...morphine-oasis

And a duet with that frownland guy with no effects added https://fjfmusic.bandcamp.com/track/a-fine-powder

And some weird avant-blues I did with my slide and backed it up with rumbly tremolo bass lines

Guitar tone is a very personal thing, preference wise, for sure. I personally love Mike Oldfield's guitar tone and the tone of Jariot Lehtinen from Waltari. It's a very subjective thing, and kind of hard to talk about in words.
