Anyone remember Joe Cockers version of 'With A Little Help From My Friends'?
The Beatles cover, the one they used for the Wonder Years TV serial. Brenda Holloway and her sister Patrice were the backing singers.

At thinking before I post, Literature, Self control, Reading, Communicating, With God & Satan, etc., And with a little knowledge, finess, Craft, etc. (Is an Art), Within One's self.

I don't mean to come over as a know all VB, it's just my enthusiasm for 60's R&B, coupled with the fact that there aren't too many members here I get to chat it over with.

VocalsBass, if your a bass player you must be a fan of James Jamerson. Any particular Jamerson pieces are favourites of yours?

Vocal Bass, if you are a bass player you definitely should listen to Sly & the Family Stone. Larry Graham and his playing is just pure awesome....I think he was the one that invited the slap technique but I'm not totally sure.

Thats my favorite era's, of choice. Doesn't get any better, And can be just as good. Whatever the era, style, etc, of choice may be (In my opinion). VB

You know I think I was able to decipher this and you know why alot of people like Kanye West? He samples 70s Soul. He goes off to his mother to give him suggestions and he finds B-sides to old records so he can sample the sound

I think this cover is brilliant.

It's one of those rare covers to best the original.
It doesn't happen often in my opinion, as I'm a fan of originals as a rule, but when it does happen it has to be pretty special and the amount of feeling he puts into that song surpasses the Beatles effort by a mile.

Yeah I agree. Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower is another rare better cover.
