I'll repeat this again because some people have some real trouble understanding it.

This is a thread where you select 10 tracks , zip them up into a file , upload them , then when you have your link you come here , list the 10 tracks , write about why you chose them and then let other people download it.

This thread is NOT for writing down a list of 10 tracks you like , posting it and leaving. If you are in this thread to do this GO AWAY WE DON'T WANT YOU IN HERE.

I do hope that's clear now

I'm sorry! I read it wrong..I deleted my post. Oops..

Glad you enjoyed it.

What was your favorite song?

FaSho 08-29-2008 04:47 PM

i hadnt heard any saetia before and that was pretty good and even though i already had the lagwagon and SOTY tracks those were probably my favorite

but i think overall the streetlight manifesto one was the best

I can hardly bemoan the fact that this thread is sorely underused whilst ignoring an uploaded comp. Alfred I'm just d/l yours now and back with opinions a little later.

Well, don't get your hopes too high. ;)

Alfred:

1. Story Of The Year "And The Hero Will Drown"
Heard it all before. I don't dislike it but I don't like it much either.

2. At The Drive-In "Napoleon Solo"
I have'nt heard much of this band, which is surprising considering I like 'Mars Volta'. I think this could be a grower.

3. Streetlight Manifesto "Watch It Crash"
At last I have heard them. I wish I had'nt. The 3rd wave of ska has generally failed to grasp the rhythmn of Ska and what it represents. It seems like they only want to play a fast skank on the verses and then a heavy riff coupled with a horn motif on the chorus and that's Ska. It's not people. I wonder whether some of these bands have even heard proper Ska?

4. Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster "Dry The River"
The most frustrating track. Why? Because the main theme of the song is great and the main riff is really good. However the chorus is terrible and ruins the song for me.

5. Dropkick Murphys "Fields Of Athenry"
Something about this band that does'nt ring true. The Irish 'influences' seem contrived. This is about the 4th or 5th track of theirs I have heard and they have all failed to convince.

6. Underoath "When The Sun Sleeps"
I thought this was O.K. I would give an album a listen.

7. Lagwagon "May 16"
No, no, no, no. Awful.

8. Rage Against The Machine "People Of The Sun"
You can't go wrong with RATM can you? Great band.

9. Alexisonfire ".44 Caliber Love Letter"
I only have their debut from which this is taken from and I really like it. I really need to hear some more of their albums. Great choice.

10. Saetia "Venus and Bacchus"
Not cohesive enough for me but at least it sounded a little different to a lot of the dross out there.

Don't let some of my negative comments put you off either. Keep posting those lists.

Alfred 08-29-2008 05:44 PM

Haha, will do. Your post was more positive than I expected, believe it or not. :)

Edit: Oh, and about that Underoath song, I a lot of the other songs on the album don't sound much like that song. More/less just metal riffs, the odd keyboard part, and screamed vocals.

And that album is the only one of theirs that really sounds like that. The stuff after that is very "scene", more polished, and the screamed vocals are very different (though I still dig it), and their older stuff is pretty much deathcore. That album is kind of everything put together.

I don't rip for the sake of it. I will give any music a fair and impartial listen otherwise what's the point? Your list reminded me about 'At The Drive In', so it's achieved merit. You want to get into good heavy ska? Check these out. A great band:

Thanks for the reccommendation. That's a sweet song.
