Thanks for the comments!

I'll probably carry on with the next part of that, then.

1. Jeffrey Lewis "Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror"
The most perfect song written about being a starving artist ever and it talks about the prince himself beating the shit out of you.

Quote:
Even you must want to quit
Like if you hear a record by Bob Dylan or Neil Young or whatever,
You must start thinking "People like me, but I won't be that good ever."
And I'm sure the thing is probably Dylan himself too stayed up some nights
Wishing he was as good as Ginsberg or Camus.
2. Mount Eerie "Wooly Mammoth's Absence"
One of the most touching yet profound songs ever written.

Quote:
I know a new day is dawning now and so ends my holy night
It's back to the world I go, back to little girls and shows,
And their worldly woes, all unfurling clothes
Will I carry myself slowly enough to remember?
I sit on a dark rock doing nothing, still just crowded in
There's the love in flesh and bones.
3. Carissa's Wierd "One Night Stand"
Mistakes can turn out beautiful.

Quote:
If I could just see straight
I'd probably head straight for the door,
Please don't ask me what my thoughts are
Cause I don't care about yours.
4. Sexton Blake "Rose Parade"
I promised myself I wouldn't put Elliott Smith on here but Sexton Blake does manage to make this his own while remaining true to the song.

Quote:
The trumpeter's obviously been drinking
Cause he's fucking up even the simplest lines,
I'd say it's a sight that's quite worth seeing
It's just that everyone's interest is stronger than mine.
5. The Mountain Goats "Dance Music"
This song hits me like no song ever has before.

Quote:
Okay so look I'm seventeen years old
And you're the last best thing I got going,
But then the special secret sickness starts to eat through you
What am I supposed to do?
6. Daniel Johnston "Some Things Last a Long Time"
This is the most honest and painfully direct song ever written.

Quote:
Your picture is still
On my wall, on my wall.
The colors are
Bright, bright,
As ever.
Things that we did, all we forget,
Some things last a long time.
7. Damien Jurado "Johnny Go Riding"
The tale of a hermit and a cowboy.

Quote:
Well maybe I don't think I'm ready
To leave this house of mine,
You go out and tell them I'm not the social kind,
So men they are lovers and others the fighting type,
And me I'm in the middle of choosing which one I'd like to be.
8. Jim O'Rourke "Halfway to a Threeway"
When you listen to this song its incredibly beautiful and intimate sounding, when you really listen it's even more intimate.

Quote:
I just can’t get you to sit
You and your stupid epileptic fits,
And I know that you can’t run away
’Cause I’m halfway to a threeway.
9. Mirah "The Light"
Ruthless in it's sincerity.

Quote:
What’s the use of holding out a work-sore hand
To catch some when it turns up empty,
All is dry and all you ever wanted was some rain,
If heaven is the future
Why is it that you refuse to go there now?
With all you have you really should
Do more than just complain,
10. The 6ths "As You Turn To Go"
I can't really say anything about this song and don't want to.

Quote:
I know I'm not supposed to say I'm sorry
I know you've had more loves than Mata Hari,
But you know you're the star of my life story
And I'm so sorry.
Let the poets struggle to describe your heart
Your art of love, and your love of art,
Well if you ever loved me tell me so
As you turn to go.
11. Nana Grizol "Broken Cityscapes"
The song that is basically my philosophy.

Quote:
Pushing forward highway miles are cheaper than in town,
If you left something behind well try your best not to let it get you down,
The city's full of bullshit, I don't sleep there anymore,
I don't want its schmoozey eagerness I don't want to be its whore,
Oh but we, we are so awestruck by the way that things just are,
Like how the sunshines till its nighttime
We fall asleep to the sound of passing cars,
It's that sinking sunken feeling that you get on the roofs of tall buildings,
Staring out over the bay of broken cityscapes that make you cry,
And it's not sad you just don't know how to begin to ask why?

Saetia and Solange were excellent choices and Sufjan Stevens needs to to be listened to more for me to get a better opinion of him. The rest was OK just not my sort of thing except the Slint and Smiths tracks

Top mix sir . I've got six of those, but I'll give it a listen for the rest. The Normal & Swell Maps are definitely in my 'listen to' list.
