Imagine; Beaucoups Must Ram!

Ever wondered what one more Beatles release after Let It Be would've sounded like? Well wonder no more

Instead of paying attention in a lecture this morning I drew up this album taken from Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass', Lennon's 'Imagine', McCartney's 'Ram' and Ringo's 'Beaucoups Of Blues'. Like Revolver it's made up of ten McCartney or Lennon songs, three George Harrison ones and one Ringo tune. Obviously, given that two of the albums this list is made from were Spector-produced, it's been a bit of a challenge to make it all fit together, but here's my best shot at it...

*Side A*
1. Ram On
2. Imagine
3. All Things Must Pass
4. Monkberry Moon Delight
5. Awaiting On You All
6. Crippled Inside
7. Fastest Growing Heartache In the West
*Side B*
8. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
9. Art Of Dying
10. Give Me Some Truth
11. Back Seat Of My Car
12. Long Haired Lady
13. Ram On (reprise)
14. Oh Yoko!

Imagine; Beaucoups Must Ram!.rar

Before I finally shut up about this, it's worth mentioning that I didn't use anything from Lennon's 'Plastic Ono Band' or McCartney's solo debut because a) I don't have either of them and b)from what I've heard, those albums don't really sound very Beatlesy.

Okay here's my first attempt at this... just kind of a random mix of what's been consuming my listening time of late.

Mogwai - Hunted by a Freak (I owe MB so much for showing me this band)
Nick Drake - River Man (Nick Drake just puts me at peace with myself)
Ben Folds - Fred Jones, Pt. 2 (From back when he was good)
Of Montreal - Gronlandic Edit (This band is a lot of fun, and I'm still getting into them)
Iron & Wine - Wolves (See above)
The Decemberists - The Engine Driver (Colin Meloy is an ubelievable lyricist)
Neutral Milk Hotel - Two Headed Boy, Pt. 2 (Just listen, that's all I can say)
The Olivia Tremor Control - I Have Been Floated (Elephant 6 can do no wrong)
Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong (Live, Acoustic) (A Radiohead song that I really feel is meant to be played acoustic)
Sigur Ros - Untitled 8 (Epic.)

I'm sure I have posted this before but I uploaded for someone so may as well put the link here too.

Night Time mix.

Have you ever looked across a neon lit town/city? This is what was playing on the radio at the time:

^ Awesome mix. Too bad it's afternoon here. I'll have to listen again tonight, while looking at the city lights from my balcony.

Cooking On Glass - A selection of Philip Glass Compositions

I've only chosen 5 for now, I may do another 5 later on if anyone is interested. Most of the tracks are long enough though. I've been into Philip Glass for quite a while now and just love to chill out to his recordings, especially with a drink and having some visualisations on my TV and the lights out.

It's quite tricky picking tracks as Glass is normally an album composer. Most tracks on one album are fairly similar with slight themes on each other, designed to be listened to as a whole.

Anyways, I hope someone enjoys this short selection. I messed up when ripping so the tracks are probably going to appear in a different order to what I had intended, which is:

1) Anthem Part 2 (3:48)- Some people may recognise this track from The Truman Show but it originally appeared on Powaqqtsi
2) Pruit Igoe (7:52)- Possibly Glass' most famous work. It appears on Koyaanisqatsi and has been featured on GTA 4 and numerous adverts, tv shows, etc.
3) Truman Sleeps (1:51)-A beautiful short piano piece for The Truman Show
4) Mad Rush (13:44)- A typical piano piece by Philip Glass, featuring slow movements and quick trills. Has appeared on Top Gear.
5) Metamorphosis One (5:40)- Another typical piano piece from his Solo Piano album. All the tracks on this album are similar and are designed for listening as a whole

Excellent. Looking forward to this after being spellbinded by his score for 'Koyannisqatsi' over 15 years ago.

Both of those worked like a charm, listening to it late in the night couple of days back .

@ToeAndno: Some of those tracks were breaking a bit in the middle, but otherwise, a near perfect compilation. Only complaint is that it's not long enough! Ahh well, got some Philip Glass huntin' to do now. (although I do have few of his tracks, but most of it is random and differ a lot in sound)

@JH: I've got couple of those but who cares anyways. A late night mix and it sure did work wonderfully at that . Headphones enhance it even more.

Think I'll do another compilation soon, cause I'm goddamned bored rite now.

And here's the next compilation -

Ten tracks with a groove -

1. Skeewiff - prelude
2. The Quantic Soul Orchestra - Something That's Real
3. The Bamboos - In The Bamboo Grove
4. Breakestra - Recognize
5. Nomo - My Dear
6. The Nostalgia 77 Octet - Journey Home
7. Salmonella Dub - Platetectonics (fartyboom)
8. Ott - Escape from tulse hell
9. The Black Seeds - Turn it around
10. Cymande - Dove

No description. Most of it is along the lines of funk-Jazz-dub-soul-electronic...you get the drift. The first half might get your feet moving a bit and the second half is a bit more relaxing. Most of it ain't all that original, but screw that. Sure is a lot of fun . (or atleast I had fun listening to some of these before)
If the tracks don't load in this order, do change accordingly.

Mad Rush and Metamorphosis one are both sublime tracks. Fantastic little teaser comp and anyone who plays or aspires to play the piano should listen to this comp. Excellent comp sir!
