This compilation spans nearly 25 years and eight of their nine records (I left off 'Feel the Pain' as it is their best known single and is from easily their worst album). You're Living All Over Me is the best represented of the group and is considered the essential Dino Jr. record. Also included is one cover (The Cure's 'Just Like Heaven').

I totally would, but aside from I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One, I really use their albums to go to sleep to. I absolutely love them for that, as it is the most relaxing way to go to sleep when I have insomnia, but for that reason I actually can't pick out most of their songs....

Maybe I will use this as a challenge to really give their other albums the real attention they deserve. I'll get back to you.

Stone Birds 03-08-2010 06:17 PM

awesome, can't wait

Amanda Ashley 03-08-2010 09:47 PM

Love this post! Very helpful :) gonna check 'em out!

Why was my beginners guide to maths deleted? Any reason?

LoathsomePete 03-23-2010 06:47 PM

I've been through 40 pages of this thread to see if anything was deleted and so far I've found nothing. Are you absolutely sure you posted it in here and not the 10 songs mixtape thread?

stormjh 03-23-2010 07:07 PM

Nope, was in here, I did check a few days back, there's a reply quoting it.

EDIT: Page 36.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-23-2010 07:16 PM

I believe Jackhammer took out all the dead links a while back.

That's probably where it's gone.

stormjh 03-23-2010 07:35 PM

Yeah it is dead, I should have thought of that, sorry.

Yeah I'll get it up later tonight, I'm just on my way out the door.

Bulldog 03-24-2010 11:52 AM

I'm in a mix-making mood, so I think I'll do one for Public Image Limited. Might have it online later tonight, if not tomorrow...

edit - While I'm not really doing anything, I may as well update the link index too.

The Beginner's Guide to Staring at Your Effects Pedals

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pedalboard.jpg

Slowdive - Alison
Loop - Straight to Your Heart
My Bloody Valentine - When You Sleep
Galaxie 500 - Decomposing Trees
Skywave - Fire
Lush - For Love
Swirlies - Pancake
The Telescopes - The Perfect Needle
Spacemen 3 - Suicide
Pale Saints - Sight of You

Almost all of these songs appear in the "classic" shoegaze era (ca. 1989-1994), there's plenty of other great artists in the genre as well, these are simply some of my favorites.

NOTE: The egregious image actually is Kevin Shields' setup for their recent tour. I think there's at least thirty pedals there.

Click pic. :)

Zer0 03-25-2010 06:05 PM

^^^^Nice choices right there

I have nearly all those songs anyway, but Alison, Decomposing Trees and Suicide are incredible tracks.

But it's still only three full-length albums though no matter how many variations of the tracklistings you post. It's easier to just find the three of them for oneself.

It's a bit hard with PIL, as they sound different on pretty much every album they'd released. In fact the only thing linking most of the albums is John Lydon's voice.

In a nutshell, the 1978-84 stuff is more left-of-centre, with some post-punk to it, a few dub rhythms and disco grooves, some post-rock and even a little bit of pop music in a couple of cases. The 1985-92 stuff's a lot more accessible on the whole, with more of a focus on hard rock sound in varying degrees from album to album.

As I say though, it's hard to explain.

mrguy 03-26-2010 04:09 AM

Think I'll get the 2nd one. Thanks bulldog:)

Stone Birds 03-26-2010 06:27 AM
