What I've learned about the sun last days: It may be your "enemy", but also your ally. I hate when I have to take a photo against the sun. However, sometimes I seize the opportunity to try something interesting.

This is The Torch Bearers, a sculpture by Anna Hyatt Huntington:

^ I think the light gives a kind of "epic touch" to this image.

When you're not using a DSLR, mind your CCD. It's really not fond of direct sunlight or any bright direct light at all.

I think this shot looks like he's confronting the abyss.

It looks like he's staring at a beautiful lush landscape to me. Unless you mean the abyss of oncoming male pattern baldness.

Wow! That is an amazing photo! I love it! <3

Btw, I noticed you are from Spain. That is awesome! I spent two months of summer during college studying at the Universidad de Salamanca (via a study abroad program). I had such a marvelous time! Really enjoyed my visit.

Went outside to take some pics today.
Since this forum doesn't (or does it?) support image tags with resolutions in them, I shall post the links to protect everyone from scrolling like a menace :D

Very nice photos s_k! You're really great with nature/scene shots. I really love that first pic (w/ the pond). And the ones of the field w/ like the powerlines (?). Those had some neat creative composure.

Looks like you live in a lovely place!

s_k 03-11-2011 06:28 PM

I guess I do :).
The pond is actually on a golf court, but I tried to hide that.
And those are indeed powerlines :)

Oh, Salamanca! The fourth oldest University in the World. Amazing historical city too. I live in Madrid (I call it "Matrix" because its name derives from the ancient Latin word Matrice, which means matrix :)), which is very old and very new at the same time. So I've shot at diverse "photographic targets", such as a medieval Muslim wall (9th century) and 21st-century skyscrapers:

3.3 million inhabitants... including "saints".... and "sinners"... :D

...and above all, the sky:

Very nice pictures man.
Are you still making all this with a kodak compact camera?
You deserve something better. Who knows what beautiful pictures you can make then :D

Eitherway, I bought two camera's today on a bootsale.
One is a VERY vintage Sony Mavica FD91
http://www.nicknormal.com/normalblog...avica-fd91.jpg
A VERY expensive camera back in the day but, it has to be said, even for 1999 it's pretty grainy:

But it's really very brilliant to work with :D

Then I got this little Fuji MX700 which is a year older...
http://www.megapixel.net/reviews/fuj...700-frontl.jpg
Looks pretty modern though. And the pictures are actually better than those from the oldskool Mavica.

Quite nice :)
