They simply care too much about hockey. Until they learn that there are more valuable things in life than winning the first round of playoffs against an awful eighth-seeded team (a la 2008 riots), I'm going to cheer against them every single year.
Add to the fact that the fans are complete sh itheads. They turn on their players like no other city in the world. Look at what happened to Patrick Roy, and he's arguably the best French Canadien goalie (if not best goalie hands-down) to play the sport. I've been critical of Pittsburgh fans that turn on our great players (Jagr being one of them), but at least we had the decency to give him a standing O when he hit his last career milestone, despite being a Ranger at the time.
They're just awful, awful people.
