Fantasy Football is probably just so familiar to all of you now that you don't really put a lot of thought into it, but I'm an Englishman who is still rather new to the NFL and so this is the first FF league I've been involved in this season. Damn it is so much more complex than the equivalent here for our football. Drafts, trades, adds, drops, waivers...it takes a little getting used to! Not that I'm complaining, at all, I'm actually having a lot of fun with it. Plus I'm currently second place, at 2-1.

I'm playing first place this week though, and have Jordy Nelson out on their bye week. I think I may just get a rookie sized beating this week.

They were universal favorites to win.

What few saw was that they were up against a FEARSOME defense, a defense that was extremely talented at all positions but ESPECIALLY at cornerback, maybe the greatest cornerback duo ever to play the game. Those two corners COMPLETELY shut down the vaunted passing game, SMOTHERING the wideouts, allowing the remainder of the defense to dismantle their power running attack and make the MVP quarterback's day fecking MISERABLE. The result of the game was a humiliating beating, one of the most one sided Superbowls ever played.

The season was 1983. Superbowl XVIII.

What does your team look like?

I actually consider FF the simplest fantasy league out there, and because of that, it's also the best sport to have a fantasy team in. You only have to worry about setting your lineup once a week usually and combining everyone's points into a standard score makes it a lot easier. In fantasy sports like basketball you have to gauge how many rebounds, steals, etc. your team will get on a week-to-week basis.

People are always seemingly more impressed with a great offense than a great defense, but a great D can be even more effective. Seattle's D is scary. Having the corners that they do, it allows them to play single coverage and opens up a lot more things for the rest of the D. They can stack 8 guys in the box and bring a strong blitz and not miss a beat in coverage. Plus, it seems that every single guy on that D is a behemoth for their position.

I can only compare it to the Premier League one, and the NFL is more complex. I don't necessarily mean confusing, just complex. Once I did a mock draft and learned what a waiver was, I was pretty much good to go. But the PL one is simple - you have a total value for the squad from which to pick 11 starters and 3 subs, you only one get free transfer a week, theres no restrictions on different managers selecting the same players, and the league table is based on total points. So the NFL one was a little surprising to me, a 12 team league, a draft, a head-to-head each week. It wasn't really what I was expecting.

Also the PL FF is just a bit of fun amongst friends. It's very rarely mentioned on TV coverage etc, whereas the NFL FF has a life of its own. It's huge.

RB and TE are the gaps in my team for sure. I've already had two TEs injured so I dont really have a strong starter there. I'm hoping Miller gets more game time over the next few weeks. I know I need to be looking at a trade for a RB, I just haven't quite sorted what I want yet. At least Bradshaw had a great week last week to keep me ticking over.

i figured you had some TE injuries if winslow was starting. i think heath mill be a better option if he can get 100% healthy because that steelers offense is terrible and they have no redzone threats so Heath could find the endzone quite a bit

if fred jackson is someone available i would pick him up. he is a savior for me every year it seems

i just dropepd bradshaw since they traded for richardson. im not sure what his role is going forward
