Hey thanks, that's useful. Now I just have to get off my ass and actually start measuring my food and I'm off! I got the scale ready and everything! Protein I can weigh, carbs and fats though?

And how does one do that when one's working and therefore eating outside though? Eye guessing?

You can read labels and work out how much you can eat per tin/packet/box etc, or batch cook and take meals with you in tupperware. Once you've done it for a bit you'll know roughly what's OK and how much of it. Obviously be careful what you're taking out with you if you don't have access to a fridge e.g. rice would give you food poisoning if at room temperature for too long.

Or you can look at intermittent fasting and have your eating window at a time when you'll be at home. This is fine provided you are getting all your macros. Mindfulness off here should know more about IF.

I have to say that after many many many years of working out and not seeing much results, in the last year or so I've decided to go totally beserk with my protein intake and actually start taking the recommended amount of protein (about 2grams per kg of bodyweight I belive) and I've started to see some results. I was taking weight gainers and started to gain weight finally. Unfortunately, it turned out a lot of that weight was fat so now I'm on a diet to lose it. I just don't know if I'll ever be bothered enough to actually investigate how many macros I have to ingest daily and then weigh my food and be really precise about it. Right now I'm just kind of winging it and hoping for the best. :/

i exercise daily and log it down to see how ive gained in reps and just keep going. i eat basically as much healthy stuff as i can get but i do still eat processed foods. i wing it and hope for the best also but i try my best to stay under 2500-3000 calories or less. :yeah: i do intermittent fasting, i only eat from 6-9pm. after a while its not weird. :o:

This has always been your approach or just something you're trying now? Are you happy with the results? What are your goals, how old are you and how much do you weigh..?

it sort of was always my eating pattern, just maybe started eating when id get hungry around 1 or 2pm but i just slowly started pushing it to 3pm and then 4pm and finally to 6pm. it turns out to be a meal and then a few snacks.

if you need more information, youtube and google have tons of information os IF, its basically just a tool people use to lose weight, i weight 181,about to be 30. goal is to be ripped the rest of my life until im 100 years old lifting weights :)

How tall are you? You weigh exactly the same like I do. Ripped as in skinny/low fat or ripped with muscle?

i still have fat on my stomach i want to lose, i dont have ripped six pack lol thats why im working out everyday. plan to work out everyday until i die though so i dont really worry about if the fat will go away or not, i think the body has a hard time lose weight after a certain amount too. im 5'8, 32 waist, id say im muscle looking because im not skinny. i dont want to end up having all them sicknesses from over eating sugar and food overall. so i try to learn everything there is to know about dieting and health :yeah:

what about you?

Alright cool. I see you're doing kettle workouts and things which is interesting. I think we have different routines, I'm just a boring old weight lifter who is "too lazy" to go the extra mile needed to really achieve solid results. I guess I'm a hard gainer too so that extra mile is really necessary. Especially as you get older methinks.

 I feel like we're entering weird fitness dating territory.

I'm 6'3 so a bit of a bitch to pack on quality muscle. I'd have to eat like a kilo of chicken every day for pete sake. So I take most of my protein via powders.

Anyways, trying to eat a bit more clean with less carbs and more fish/chicken/legumes, I'll see if I can tweak my macros a bit more. I don't want to do all that effort in the gym for nothing. But I also don't want this to be my whole life, y'know...:ambivalent: :/

i just got back from the store and i believe thats also a part of achieving any weight loss goals. because its the only stuff that goes into your body, the stuff you personally buy. maybe try pre workouts. its a supplement. to supplement the energy required to get that extra mile? i actually eat chicken alot, sometimes 3 breasts for my whole meal and then carrots and peanuts for snacks. thats what i just bought, another week or so of that. my candy bars i liked to eat at night for dessert just turned to granola bars with less sugar. i ate apples alot too.

 (preworkout- watermelon flavor :) )
