You have to give your muscles time to heal. You're hurting from the contractions/ripping of the muscle tissue when you over exert them so you gotta let them heal and fill in the rips before doing it again. Allowing your body to heal after a workout is part of the process. Be patient.

I used to watch Athlean-X and even rec'd him in this very thread but I don't any more.
His **** being clickbaity and gimmicky is obvious and not necessarily a huge issue, if you can see past it and ignore the worst of it but I think this focus on everything killing your gains, hundreds of unnecessary curls variations and working out abs all the time distracts one from building a proper, focused workout routine.
He's also not science based and not a strength coach. His advice isn't always the worst but some of it is really not good and at times dangerous, like the infamous advice to breathe out before squats. Also the whole fake weights thing, while not invalidating everything he says, makes him even less trustworthy.

If I had to recommend just one channel it'd be Renaissance Periodization. The amount of quality, in-depth information they put out is ****ing ridiculous. Other good channels in no particular order are Jeff Nippard, Sean Nalewanyj, Geoffrey Verity Schofield, Mountaindog, Alec Enkiri, Alan Thrall.

Will check out some of these channels.

My favourite used to be Scrooby. But he doesn't do much now. I also watch a lot of Hodge Twins just cos they're so ****ing funny.

All kinds of gainz.

I trained as an athlete for sprinting mainly from a young age so knew the ups and downs pretty well at 15 I had my first back issue by 39 years of age had no choices left. off to Atkinson Morley Hospital for back surgery...told not to eat or drink or smoke...kept waiting until the afternoon so had a cig and was sick..haha told you so but hey soon out to sleep and done the necessary
anesthetic heaven...weeks later discectomy with added pull through was successful so without further a do back swinging on the chandeliers..so to speak of course. So your born with stuff and need to take some extra care but it you have a fit back then warm up really well and go for it....muscles are our support system on the physical spectrum...call me Dr. Di my French Dr. does

Don't act like you don't have to roll out of bed.

Looking for advice.

My leg workouts are only to
A. Run faster
B. Stave off Runner's Knee. I'm not out here to win a body-building competition.

But my calves are unnaturally sore for reasons I can't account for. I took calf raises out of the routine and it helped a little. But for days without a leg workout or run, they'll be sore. I assumed it was a stretching issue but that doesn't seem to help.

My current rotation is
  • Single-leg body squats
  • Glute Bridge
  • Hip Flexor (for the runner's knee)
  • and I'm thinking of adding lunges with dumbbells.

Anyone else have similar issues with calves?
