Yep. There's one black person on my XC team, he's only a freshman and is definatley one of the 5 fastest on the team, including juniors and seniors.

Cool thread, I actually just got back from the track down the road, I did six laps, and six sets of stairs, its been a while and I seen this thread so I went for a run. I used to do alot of running in middle and high school, track and field as well as cross country, I think our cross country course was around 2 kilometers that we HAD to do once a year competeing against other schools, I enjoyed it though. There was about 250 people in each grade category my best place was 12th. In track and field my main events were the 100m dash and 100 meter relay. Years after that I got into boxing and we would run 10k three times per week, I wish I could remember my best time but I cant, it was good though, I remember the first time I ran it I puked right after, haha, but after a little practice it became no big deal.

I agree, scenic country roads beat a track or treadmill any day. Running in the sand on the beach is highly overrated, although its probably better than ankle weights. Half the time I run with an Ipod, I end up ditching it just so I can hear the sounds that surround me. But that's just how I run... I try to make it serene.

I run purely to stay in shape. Other than that I find it boring unless I have music to give me some adrenaline. That, and I haven't had the best experience with running in the past.

Me too! I solve problems and come up with great ideas and designs when I'm running. Unfortunately, my physio took a backwards step last week, so I'm still walkin.

i try to run around this huge park where i stay at least once a week, & i jog round all the farm roads every other day, i think its best without my ipod sometimes, am scared incase i cant hear cars etc! but if im jogging round the village i tend to use my ipod :D
i find swimming better though, as its much easier on my joints :D

I can't think while I run, and never understood what people think about. Sports in general clear my head, but don't give me time to contemplate things.

Most of the time while running I'm either... watching girls run, doing obsessive-compulsive counting of things/math, or singing a song in my head.

I run with one earphone in, so I can still hear cars.

Really? I am a great problem solver when I run. And I have brainwave ideas.
