Maybe I'm just the typical ignorant American, but can someone explain to me why USA's goal was disallowed because of 'offsides'?

Are you referring to the one against Slovenia? If so its the age old problem of the referee just getting it wrong.

No, I realize that was just a bad call. I'm talking about the one this morning against Algeria. I guess what I'm saying is I don't understand the offsides call in soccer(football)

Haven`t tuned into the match between the USA and Algeria yet but its a vital match for the USA as they have to score.
