So yes, when comparing allen to coutinho (who created multiple chances, including the goal), he does offer a bit more control in midfield and a reduced attacking threat, obviously. They're both developing (well, coutinho is a couple of years younger...) I can't imagine any aspect would have improved if gerrard or lucas had been subbed for allen.

So yeah, booyah and all that! Maybe allen will become a feared supersub like I said afterall, haw haw haw!

My issue with your team was Gerrard and Lucas in midfield. Not good enough for a 442.

I disagree. Many teams have struggled against this in form spurs side. They both dealt with bale pretty well. And the freekick leading to spurs goal was pure simulation on bales part.

The last 2 goals had nothing to do with any "improved" midfield play from the 3 (apart from gerrard finishing off the penalty).

But you have a vendetta against gerrard for some reason anyway.

Strange use of the word "vendetta". I have no problem with Gerrard, in fact he has been pretty great in the last three months, but there were times this season and last where he has been a liability.

I also don't think you can pull off a 442 in the long term.
