Just had a look, Coventry. That's very close but a bit of a stretch, though is part of the same authority with the same mayor.

I feel like I might kinda like Cathedral, but I have a long history of being unimpressed that might have ended with liking them the last time I listened to them.

Honestly if it was another city you'd class it as the same. London for example is an entire county, and anything from there gets classed as from London, which we assume is a city (it's not really, it has two cities within it though). You would say David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal are all from London but really they are from different towns in Greater London. The mayor runs all of this area. So If you are consistent you can include the guys you named.

Glasgow and Manchester are two cities that come to mind as well, maybe Liverpool where everything from Merseyside is included.

I think they're an interesting band. A lot of Black Sabbath inspiration, some much slower tempos (depending on the album), but also albums that sound more like stoner rock or even have a mild progressive element to them. Most metal "scholars" would tell you to listen to their first three albums, and indeed, that's where you find some of the pioneering doom metal aspects before most other bands did it (the track "Ebony Tears" is genre defining. The story goes that they had to fight repeatedly with the producer over the slow tempo, as the thought it sounded totally wrong and wouldn't do it). Personally, I also think several of their newer albums are great and very colorful and varied. "Caravan Beyond Redemption", "The Garden of Unearthly Delights", "The Guessing Game", to name some favorite albums of mine.

Went back to some earlier **** and it was meh, but that track right there is some fire.

That's the thing with this band. I get why the older material of theirs was important, and I like it, but it's some of the later albums where I really think they found their own style and got the songwriting down. There's a few albums of their's that are some of my favorite metal albums of all time and it's not any of the earliest few albums (even if "Ride" is a really cool early Cathedral tune).
