If I understand it correctly, you lot get excited about good players. wouldn't it be better to build your identity around your skill?

Nah, I'm not bothered by it.

Well I like seeing good players, I can appreciate the players on other teams and I am disappointed when there are injuries before the World Cup. I can enjoy the sport as a neutral.

But rooting for a team is part of the enjoyment.

And part of the appeal of the World Cup, at least for me, is getting behind the same team with people you spend all season bantering with as they follow different clubs.

Great news, I can enjoy Russia then.

Root for the team you think will win then?

You'd be switching teams all the time and you wouldn't have the same experience following one team by doing that.

There is domestic club football and international football.

Think of it like basketball in the NBA vs the Olympics.

They usually represent the state's capital.
