who here buys vinyl?
 

i just recently got a turntable and started buying vinyl. im really diggin it, cus when i get a record i feel like i really got something. the sound is also better IMO.
so who else?

I dont personally but my dad still hasnt fully converted to CDS. He's says that there is something just ver special about LPs :D

Definately a vinyl guy here. Been collecting a long time. It does sound better (imo) too, but you have to find records that are in good condition (if used), and good pressings (there are big differences between the "same" record). Also having a decent turnatable, cartridge and pre-amp. And lastly, cleaning, and keeping your records clean. These things can take some of the "fun" out of it, but all very important for the best sound. This is why so c.d.s are so popular, it's easy. I buy many records from www.Gemm, they have anything you would want, and they rate their sellers. The records are "graded" by the seller, so if you see a "VG+" graded record, you know it will be in decent condition. www.Recordsbymail is also good for buying online. Many vinyl fans over at the Steve Hoffman (.tv) audiophile forum. This is where you can learn alot about records (good pressings, turntables, etc..) - Rock On!

Anyone know of a good player I could get online? Digital or not really doesnt matter. Because my current record player is busted to ****. Im really only looking to spend a few hundred at most.

I havent been bought much music at all over the last couple of years, bar the odd second hand bargain here and there, due to lack of spare cash. However i used to buy loads of vinyl. I can't wait until i can start to buy it again. I like to own music, i like to have hard copies. I appreciate being able to hold it rather than just simply have it in digital form and i appreciate the artwork.

I really want Jeff Buckley - Grace as its my favourite album, Manic Street Preachers - Holy Bible as its probably my second favourite album and i love the artwork and also The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers mainly for the fantastic artwork. Its certainly not my favourite Beatles album.

currently no, but in the future i'm gonna think about it but probably more for the effect like if i were to record a guitar track on a 7inch and then i'd remix it into a final mix.

exactly man... thats mostly why i started buying vinyl, almost to combat the whole ipod on random mp3 thing. i want something real for my money and vinyl is almost a form of art in and of itself.
recently thought ive realized how superior it is to other recording mediums. a good pressing on a good speaker system is just incredible.

I recently acquired The Smiths' s/t and The Velvet Underground & Nico on vinyl.

Both are albums I love by bands I love, and the latter has amazing artwork that would only be dignified on vinyl.
