Default connecting a laptop to my amp

I just plugged my laptop to my guitar amplifier (an ordinary one) 'cause my speakers don't work.
My question is: Can it be bad to the amplifier somehow, you know like plugging a bass guitar to it?

Very probably yes!! Line levels are usually higher than guitar/instrument levels. So you should not plug your laptop into your amp unless you are completely sure what you are doing.

Actually not. A guitar amp wont be hurt by running a computer through it. Its really the sound that comes out will be somewhat distorted/filtered.
