Anyone have any of those old cheap teisco guitars? Or those johnny ramone mosrite guitars?? They have sparked a lot of interest especially when I noticed how many artists I listen to use these old entry level japanese guitars.

your best bet is to try scoring a modern knock off like an Eastwood. an original Mosrite normally runs around $3000. though there are plenty of knock offs trying to sell for real prices, there's a good reason why you get more warnings about ripoffs than sales when you google 'ebay mosrite'.

they might have been the cheap entry level 'junk' 50 years ago but at this point their antique collectibles.

I just looked a Eastwoods at the shop down the street from me. Very nice instrument for there price. Just have to cross fingers since the Chinese make them now.

Also Mr Dave, I got the treat of playing a friend of a friends 1972 Fender Mustang Sunburst. He told me that his parents old friend never used it so they sold it too him for like 700 bucks. I was in heaven playing that through his Fender 65RI Twin Reverb's set to stereo. Hah not to brag since none of it was mine but hot damn it was fun!

I have a Yamaha RBX375 5-string fretted and a Shergold Marathon 1976 vintage fretless. In an ideal world I'd love a Fender jazz bass (72 reissue if I could get it).

holy crap that sounds awesome hehehe. reminds me of the one and only time i played a real deal Les Paul (a midnight blue '74). a friend of a friend got it by helping his uncle move. when it came time to moving the bed he noticed a case hiding under there, asked about it, uncle said he could have it for helping him move. THEN he opened it... and damn near peed his pants.

as for Eastwood their stuff is made in both China and Korea, don't quite remember what the price line dividing the manufacturing location is though. i also really hate that their site always lists 2 prices for every instrument.

one of their GPs would be extra sweet for some damn near authentic Kyuss action though hehehe. Eastwood GP

Well after some guitar searching I came across a greg bennett malibu left handed guitar on kijiji. I can get it for 100 bucks. Worth it? How does it compare to a stratocaster?

Those Greg Bennett guitars are a great deal. I have the Royale 1 that i got for 285 new. Plays super well. I have heard nothing but good things about that series. Especially if you spent a little more and put new pickups and maybe a new nut it would really be a gigworthy guitar.

Although If your going the strat route you may as well get the real thing. A mim fender for 200-300 or a G&L for about that same.
