agreed but flip it over. don't think of it as buying the guitar because you like Hendrix, but, what other guitar would you get if you really liked Hendrix?

He played a Jazzmaster, flying v, and a hagstrom 8 string bass among other basses and guitars. People need to get over this whole fucking strat obsession. If I'm correct he was all about being original and different and if he were to see every fucking teenager and their dad get a strat because it was his main guitar, he'd pull a Kurt Cobain.

I think hendrix would sound like hendrix on a roland 20x cube and a Ibanez 7 string.

I have a Fender Stratocaster. I would like to get a Les Paul someday.

you missed my point.

it's not about what Hendrix would do. it's about what would someone who likes Hendrix do. why would someone who wants to play Hendrix type stuff get anything but a strat?

@LLSS - yeah he played lots of other kinds of instruments. he didn't get the factory to keep a constant supply on hand for anything but the strat. he understood it was iconic and seen as his trademark instrument. also being original and different in the late 60s meant being a big star in his own right without obvious strings attached, not becoming some nutjob recluse desperate to maintain individual integrity from the masses. the guy wanted to be a rock and roll star.

again, where the vast majority of the material he played and performed was done on one kind of guitar, why deny it? why the hate and backlash towards something so iconic?

alrighty then hahaha

i was getting worried for a moment, and i also totally agree with you that if Hendrix were still around it wouldn't matter AT ALL what he plugged into, he would still sound like Jimi.
