A Harpsichord, it's a miracle anybody is selling that - it looks amazing. I understand your concerns about the space and money though...
Maybe you can talk to your friend to preserve it for you? Those instruments are at a premium, and that price is really ok. Perhaps you can find a solution! :) |

I'm working on a pedal board that I built, I'm going to be upholstering a nice light blue paisley pattern to the frame, It's going to have it's own power strip and everything! So excited, can't wait to take pictures of it when I finish!

I play guitar, keys, and mandolin. I really like fender's strat and tele. The way Gilmour uses the tele in his Dogs solos is amazing. Of course, a lot of Gilmour's tone comes from his fingers, not his gear.
I also play classical guitar, for which I prefer a rosewood body for its resonating properties. It's best if the guitar body resonates at 440 Hz so that songs in Am have full sound. You can also sing into the sound hole to make it resonate which sounds cool. I don't really know much about keyboard gear, I've always just used what's available (and often been disappointed in the cheap sounds of electric equipment). I've only ever owned one mandolin and it's a fender. |

You're right about A major (I just don't play major on classical), but it's not as impactful on other keys that merely have A in them. Resonation carries harmonics from the harmonic series, and you will find that the first members of the harmonic series (besides the tonic and the octave, of course) are the fifth and the fourth, the next is the minor seventh and then the major second. So there's diminishing returns as you drift away from any scale with A that doesn't have D, E, and G. Though at this point, it's not as relevant. The major thing really is that you tend to spend more time on A in an A scale. And the fact that it resonates so fully reinforces it as the tonic. It can be a little strange when your subdominant is more robust than your tonic. |

Well, just a little snipped of what I can get. |

Alright, my Carvin DC135T. What a great guitar. I had the coil split and phase put in. With the 3 individual switches I have 12 p/u configs. Neck tru design makes it so stable. Carvin. They have always done me right

Awwww yeah, finally got my resonator guitar. Specifically a Gretsch Alligator Biscuit G9240. Another part of the Gretsch Roots Series and an amazing value for what you get. The sound is super crisp and amazingly loud, matching any dreadnaught acoustic guitar I've ever played. I can't wait to get a bottleneck guitar slide and start doing some slide blues. |
^Nice looking axe, dude! Those are a lot of fun to ply.
|
That resonator is a beauty. Hope to get one myself one day. Maybe for my sitting on the porch years. (-:
You going with an open E type tuning? |
Thanks, I'm loving it so far. Not even my Schecter got me back into guitar as much as this resonator has.
As far as new tunings, I'm going to keep in in E standard for the time being, mostly as I relearn blues guitar technique and such, but after I have a good handle on that I'm going to grab a book or something on slide and look into different tunings and maybe try playing it with my banjo fingerpicks. |

I usually keep mine in drop D tuning. I get a bit more range that way when riding a bass beat while sliding. |

Certainly nothing wrong with standard tuning! I do love open tunings for slide because chords are so easy. But being able to throw down in standard is awesome. Good luck to you. I keep planning to dive deeper into modes and improv but never seem to find the time.
|
Yeah I'm trying to do the same for jazz and as such I've really upped my theory revision.
|
Goddamn pete that is a sexy looking guitar!! Acoustic electric? I really wanna try one of those
|
Oh man, that's a nice one! Laughed at its "companion" to the left :D

Im rocking this orange Ibanez sr500, four string with flatwound rotosounds, standard gauge. It has excellent action and the nut size is perfect. I love the neck, its slim and quick. The only problem is its an active bass and ive had to pull my 9v battery out of a fire alarm for the sake of a jam session. It also buzzes when im on the g string playing the ninth fret. anyone ever had that problem with a bass?

I have a 2000's era keyboard and it blows pretty hard sound wise, but it's mainly for practice.

I am 42 and have been playing guitar for 28 years! Played in a few bands early on then took a few years off of the band scene to raise my kids. Got back into the playing scene a few years back when my kids got older. I have now been playing with the best group of guys for the last year or so. Mainly working on our own original music, but we also have learned a good pile of covers to fill space up until we have enough of our own stuff. For covers it is mostly alternative hard rock with mostly 90's content. Through my years of playing I have studied blues, metal, classic rock, prog, stoner rock, pop, funk, disco and eastern music. There is never to much to learn when it comes to music.
As for guitars I have many, but all I really play are four partscasters I put together myself. Two Strats and two Telecasters. These are all custom built to the specs I like the best. For amps I prefer low wattage tube amps that can be cranked to the sweet spot at band volumes. I mainly have been using a Fended Pawn Shop Surf Green Excelsior as of late. Sometimes I go with my Laney LC15-R through a two 2-12 Celestion cabinet. For effects I have to many to list and rotate what I use on my band board depending on my mood. I huge part of them are Boss, because I feel they are top notch. |

Have a terrible webcam photo of my new Theremini it's not like I'm excited about it or anything. |
^Damn dude you got one of those? Oughta take a vid of you playing it and post.
|
I have a B.C.Rich Virgin and i am stuck with this guitar since the old black metal times.I also have an Engl Invader 150 amplifier with a 2x12 Engl cabinet.
|
I got an acoustic guitar and a couple keyboards
The keyboard I like with a lot of the keys does not have weighted keys The one that does has barely any keys Also the acoustic guitar is hard to play because it's somewhat broken ;_; I do have a nice electric guitar in fine condition, but the only amp I have is this tiny thing with like 2 settings and not adjustable past that. Heh. I do okay though. |
Using an Epiphone SG Pro G-400 LE. She's served me quite well, although I've been crooning over a Casino for a while now. In the mean time she works quite well. Through a Marshall, it bites. Hard.

Sold my Schecter bass and guitar and used the proceeds to get this. I have to laugh, I buy one of the more metal guitars you can get and then get the urge to play nothing but jazz. That was back in March and the feelings never dissipated, and instead I just kept on looking at archtop guitars thinking of a way to make it work. Anyways I ended up getting this one and after some setup I think it is going to be a force to be reckoned with. I am considering swapping out the pickups for P90's though. |
Here's my herd. Left to right, No-Name Dobro, Washburn Enrique Tapicas Edition Nylon, Squire Jaguar Bass, Rogue Ukelele (saved from a fire), Carvin DC127, PRS SE Custom 22, Peavey Cirrus BXP5, Schecter Diamond Series.

Yes, you can run a harmonium through delay, reverse reverb, tremelo, fuzz, and octave pedals. What I do when I should be sleeping. |
Alex try putting your big muff last, you may like it better. It taints every pedal it cums before. Unless you want that.
|
For versatility, you just can't beat a piano. It can play just about anything another instrument can play. Easy to learn the basics, but incredibly difficult to master.

Ordered an Ibanez SR405QM (Brown Charcoal Burst) 5-string bass guitar for $500.
Owned SR305 and it was an outstanding playing and sounding bass. The SR405QM gets a 5 star rating. |
