I own very cheap equipment. My guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, quite cheapy. It's got a few dings in it, which I don't mind because it's not very detailed, and in my opinion, makes it look better. I bought it used. I don't even own my own amp, though. It's my dad's. It's a 15 Watt Traynor amp. I'd like a new guitar, and my own amp.
If I get another guitar, I'm getting either a hollowbody or a Fender. My mic is an Apex850 (I do some vocals in my band). I had the cable modified at the store where I bought it. Instead of an XLR plug, the guy stuck a 1/4 male plug on it, so I can plug it into a guitar amp for our band practices, as well as a mixer for gigs.

oh man this is totally gonna be an ego jerk fest here
![]() ![]() alright. from the oldest to the newest. oldest piece i still have is a DOD fx-53 classic tube distortion pedal. it's red. i got it in 1993. the battery cable shorts out so i sometimes have to play footsies with it to get it going right. i remember seeing some blurb in a guitar magazine years ago about keith richards using one or something. so if it's good enough for keef hehe it's a nice subtle fuzz, i really like it on bass, not too overbearing. next would be my mexican strat. picked it up on my 19th birthday. three colour sunburst, white pickguard, and rosewood fretboard. not really that uncommon but it's mine. i have a 'nicer' guitar but this one just feels right, even if the 17th fret on the G string sometimes craps up, and the pot from the low E on the bridge pickup has fallen into the housing hehe i've given serious thought about getting new pickups but i'm kind of liking the idea of keeping it original. also picked up a VOX wah that same day. i somehow lost the little rubber stoppers that padded the front of the rocker so now it tends to shut off if i get a little too enthusiastic with my foot rocking hehe a year later i picked up a marshall valvestate 40. it's got a 12" speaker. a nice gain channel and retarded highs hehe. this thing could peel paint. it's freaking awesome heh i got an acoustic from my mom as a gift that christmas ![]() next was a 'capri'. it's got a fleur de lys on it. it's got the basic shape of a les paul with a flat top. it's like a red burst. extra crusty pickups and knobs. but it does have two tones and volumes. AND it stays in tune. it also has kickass soundgarden tone hehe by this point i was due for a bass. happened to be in halifax one fine december evening back in 1997. has stopped into a mall for a quick bite, friend i was there with knew someone at an eatery there. plus we could avoid rush hour traffic. so as we're on our way out we spot a consignment shop in the mall so we wander through. cheeseball salesman sees me eyeing a beat up black aria pro II cat series bass missing the low E. they had $225 on the sticker. they said it came with a case. i offered $200 cash. turns out there was also a set of bells in the case. like the kind you'd find on top of really old telephones with the crank handle on the side to get the juice going or something. so armed with my new gear we head out. into the first snow of the season. about a half inch of fluffy powder over wet pavement, in a city my friend didn't really like driving in. what should have been a 10 minute drive turned into a 3 hour adventure haha not sure what happened to the bells though. kind of bummed that i can't find them anymore. the bass is covered in pokemon stickers now. the handle on the case is super loose too but otherwise solid. then at the start of my second year of college i used some of my freshly gained student loan money to get an epiphone special II. it's all black. beat to crap. had to duct tape the strap at the neck. didn't stay in tune. decided to replace the pegs myself since the guitar wasn't worth that much. made the mistake of getting really stoned first and put the pegs in backwards so now you need to twist the knobs 'backwards' to tune the guitar but now it STAYS in tune hehehe i lent it to a friend about a year ago so he could try picking up the instrument. speaking of stoned near the end of college a friend of mine and his girlfriend had made the mistake of smoking their profits and didn't have cash when the dude came by to collect so i bailed them out and in return she gave me an old guitar she had in high school. so no name sears model thing. double cutaway all black. weird tremolo setup but no bar. it's been becoming my fretless guitar for about 5 years now. i'm pretty freaking lazy sometimes hehe then came the night i was playing pool with friends here in town about two years later. i had been talking about wanting a 5 string fretless bass for a few months and never really thought i'd find one. anyway, on our way out we got pizza from a spot across the street and while waiting i decided to peak at what was available in the pawn shop across the street. lo and behold on top of the counter a bass. no frets. and 5 strings. this was at like 1 in the morning on a saturday night. i was in there on monday with cash. turns out it was a samick. i'm satisfied but i haven't tried any others. not exactly common out here. which brings us to my most recent guitar. a while back i was turning 30, getting a good tax return, and decided i wanted a brand new guitar. something really nice, i hadn't had a brand new guitar since my fender (i had another one prior to that for 2 years). so i started looking at les pauls but then someone pointed out a curvy line of esp guitars. the eclipse and LTD EC series. went straight for the top, the EC-1000 in vintage black. it's WAY nicer than the pics too. i've since picked up 3 more amps also a warwick sweet 15 for my bass. it's got surprising low end definition for it's size. the low B comes through clear. have a traynor ts-140. some custom job from the 80s. i got it dirt cheap since it was kind of messed up. meaning only 1 of the 5 inputs work. the switch to change channels doesn't work so it's stuck on fuzz. the reverb doesn't work. but the EQ does and so does the gain. and it's FREAKING loud. i also picked up one of the best little practice amps money can buy. a peavey rage. as for my pedals just scroll to the end of this thread. http://www.musicbanter.com/talk-inst...ect-pedal.html i'm not really one for selling gear ![]() |

with the extra money necessary to buy an american strat i'd just pick up a mexican and use the extra money to upgrade the pickups and get a pedal or two. then again i haven't really tried other mexicans besides mine, so the new ones might not be of the same quality. |

Ibanez AEG20E. Recently replaced the strings with Dean Markley Alchemy strings, verrrry pretty. I'm not an audiophile but the tone on this thing is very warm, and I likes it.

I've been playing guitar for 7 years (since i was 10 years old). My first guitar was a 3/4 size classical acoustic, which i still have and is fun to bring with me when Im hanging out with my friends. 2 years after that, i bought a custom built strat from a local family owned music shop. Its got an HSH pickup pattern, which can sound pretty sweet. With that guitar i got a 10 watt Johnson (no name?) practice amp. 2 years after that i bought my Ovation CC24 acoustic electric, sweet guitar, great tone, but no sustain at all, lol. 6 months after that i bought my Behringer Acoustasonic 120 watt 2-10" amp. Awesome amp, pisses my neighbors off all the time. Since then i haven't purchased any more instruments, because all my money has been invested in my other passion, filmmaking. I have recently started getting back into playing though, and Im looking into getting a drum set soon.

I got an electric guitar (Fender Squier) and a 7 piece drum set (Ludwig). I don't know how to play either yet, but I plan on getting lessons for the guitar, then the drums. Then I wanna get a turntable set up and crank out the beats.
