Favourite Guitar Brand?

what do you prefer:

GIBSON
FENDER
BC RICH
DEAN
SCHETER
OTHER ( PLEASE STATE )

i think that gibsons would probably be my favourite but they all have their qualities. fender stratocasters ( which is the guitar i have ) have an awesome bluesy bite to them.

Maddest_Hatter 03-06-2007 02:21 PM

Other...

Ibanez

Blain 03-13-2007 05:14 AM

Loser 03-14-2007 02:17 PM

DaliDally06 03-14-2007 02:44 PM

Fender....no contest.

Favorite guitar of all time

the 1962 fender jaguar

bloodorflies 03-14-2007 03:08 PM

skindredluver 03-14-2007 04:42 PM

I like the Jangstag ( I think I spelt that wrong....I'll check for spelling later)

PaperHurricanesAndPlanes 03-14-2007 07:48 PM

the 1962 fender jaguar < I love that guitar. Also, Johnny Smiths are nice. My dad has one from the 60s or 70s (The exact year eludes me), it's real nice. I hear Washburn is real good too.

mosesandtherubberducky 03-14-2007 08:16 PM

my schecter hellcat (the old old ones with mini-humbuckers)
danelectro guitars
and gretch

littleknowitall 03-15-2007 08:15 AM

Jackson are quite nice too.

rockstar 03-26-2007 12:56 PM

No one has mentioned Harmony?

I know they went out of business in like the 70's, but I recently rebuilt a 60's Harmony and it sounds amazing.

more on topic

Gibson, Ibanez, Fender

Kurt_Cobain 03-26-2007 01:13 PM

Gibson's have the best tone in the world. And the Les Paul is the doggies bollocks we all know that!!

Sex objects with strings :D

right-track 03-26-2007 01:24 PM

A Yamaha SG beats a Gibson for tone IMO and I love the sound of a Gretsch.

Cassady 04-19-2007 02:23 PM

Gibson, but fender is a close second

Trauma 05-03-2007 08:41 PM

Gibson, hands down.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 05-08-2007 12:31 PM

^Gibsons are pretty much crap unless you spend more than a thousand dollars on a Standard model. Anything lower than that is pretty much a waste of money. The only low end Gibson I've ever played that I liked was a Faded model SG, and the only reason it played well was because the friend of mine who owns it spend hours tweaking the action and intonation.

In terms of "affordable" guitars...the lower end Ibanez models are actually decent guitars out of the box, as are LTD's. Generally LTD's have the best features for the money. Schecters are decent but to find one that plays really well you have to do a lot of searching.

If we're talking about legitimate guitars, professional quality and playability, and a slightly heftier price tag, then ESP and Ibanez definitely take the cake. It depends somewhat upon the type of neck one prefers on a guitar, but ESP guitars have the best necks in my opinion. They're relatively thin, but the fretboard isn't so flat that you end up only being able to play on one type of guitar as you do with most newer Ibanez guitars. In terms of speed though, Ibanez are the best. The flat fretboard allows for slightly wider spacing between strings making sweeping and tremolo picking (a.k.a. shredding) easier and cleaner.

Carvin guitars are also great in terms of playability but they're among the most expensive. PRS as well, though like Gibson, you have to spend at least two thousand to get one that really plays. I don't like PRS necks though, they're very Fender-esque; wide with round back and fretboard.

I'm not talking "Favourite Guitar Brand On A Budget?", I meant the expensive ones.

^Even still, for the money, there are definitely better guitars.

I have some serious ibanez hate
ugh generic modern metal guitars
no tone

Azothoth 08-17-2008 04:20 AM

ESP all the way

Dean - sold out and smeared by friend Darrel's name in dirt and money, plus, quality went down the drain about four years ago

BC Rich - custom shop only ones worth it

Schecter - FAIL

Gibson - alright, need more EMG's and more Foyd Roses

Fender - they're for a certain type of people, like...65yo+ hahaha jk

Deans and schecters are just ESP's made of cheaper components and horrible craftsmenship

80's Jacksons were good, even the bolt ons
