So I went for it, got it yesterday afternoon for $1,299 on sale at Tom Lee Music, $1,599 at every other guitar shop in Southern BC. This is the one I'll be taking to the grave, without question the most comfortable guitar I've ever felt, and so damn beautiful in person. Ash body, maple fretboard, Custom Shop single-coils, chrome hardware, every inch of this guitar is just gorgeous.
Showed up to practise eager to break it in, a bit of uncertainty lingering in my mind regarding the pick-ups holding their own in a metal setting. It handled everything we threw at it no problem, the bridge pup especially handled thick distortion very well. I can't imagine a swap-out being necessary, totally exceeded our expectations, and I'm so glad. Completely satisfied and madly in love. Proud to be reppin' the Telecaster family. http://i.imgur.com/wSGXflP.jpg?1 |
My God, thats beautiful.

Tip if you buy a new acoustic. Every time you play it spend the last few minutes of every session strumming full bar chords pretty hard and letting them ring. The only way to break in an acoustic is to get everything really vibrating a lot - and over a period of time. |
All I've really played is strats and teles. I like strats with light, warm-tone strings, set in the neck pickup. Put on a short delay and some fuzz, amd the guitar doesn't matter anymore as long as it's of some minimal quality.

What even is that thing? It's like a Jaguar knocked up a Strat in a junkyard...

Is that a bottle opener between the bridge and the faux bigsby?????
|
Holy **** lol, it has a hand-controlled wah built into it.

Even then, all of the effects are sealed and encapsulated into a single module:

I'd love to try one. |

I love all these weird '60s guitars with the in-built electronics. I think they look mega. Undoubtedly a pain to uphold though.

So, I'm visiting relatives in Spokane, and it turns out my (super rich) aunt just bought the most expensive strat she could get. It's ****ing insane, I swear to god.

Awesome! The Farfisa Compact Organ effect sounds really Psychedelic!

Favourite guitar for me is a telecaster....In looks, sound and how it plays. I love mine, I'm so used to it now it's weird to pick up a different guitar....I use it pretty much exclusively over my others (epiphone dot, epiphone sg)

Telecasters RULE. The perfect middle ground between a Strat and Les Paul.
Mine. http://donniebshawn.com/pics/kbb3.JPG |
Is that an ash Tele? Very nice finish there.
I succumbed and ordered a Squier Classic Vibe '50s Telecaster just the other day. Relatively reasonably priced and the reviews of it were excellent. |
|
Very impressive -- must give great tone.
My humble Squier Tele is just plain ol' pine body. But it's nice to have a Tele-ish guitar again (the Tele I had as a teenager was a real American Tele). http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_i...e/50squier.jpg <-----Expecting the guitar, not the amp (although I'd love that amp). I purchased a used Fender 25R amp. |
Sweet. Glad you went with the 3 saddle bridge which is the foundation of the telecaster's signature tone IMO.
|
I have the 52 rele with 3 saddle bridge. Worried about keeping it in tune before I bought it but that thing is solid.

Mine. That's beautiful-I want that colour combo-Mine's a Mexican, wine red with white guard. I've swapped out the bridge for the Wilkinson 3 brass saddle one though.... |

Every time I see Chula's Telecaster I wake right up, it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm quite jealous of how pronounced the wood grain is, and especially of the knot in the wood. I do love my ash body American Std. Tele to bits, especially the wavy grain pattern, but I'd kill for a knot somewhere.
But of course that's the great thing about natural finishes, they're all quite unique. http://i.imgur.com/KS2p5yv.jpg?1 |

I remember you were wanting a Tele several years ago, when your dream guitar was the inca silver American made Telecaster with a rosewood fretboard and, ideally, a silver pickguard. I'm delighted to learn that you'll soon have a Squier Tele so you can again make pleasantly jangly guitar tones *and* so your new acoustic guitar will have a friend. :) Chula's 280 year old reclaimed pine body Tele and EPOCH6's ash body Tele (even without knots!) are beautiful. This thread threatens to reignite my little guitar obsession phase I went through several years ago. ;) |

I received the Guild M-120 acoustic, by the way, and absolutely love it. Such a nice woodsy sounding guitar. I had a used ’62 Gibson Hummingbird as a teenager, and although I loved its ringing tone and was tempted to go for an Epiphone Hummingbird now, I decided against it remembering that I had felt a little encumbered by the Hummingbird. The parlor sized Guild is perfect and very comfortable. Anyway, now that I have an acoustic and an (expected) electric, I feel set for the rest of my life! I’ll be an old lady in a rocking chair with two guitars and a 25 watt amp. :) |

These look like they would be a bit awkward to play, but I dig the futuristic look...
