The two bands that immediately come to mind are Radiohead and Led Zeppelin. I suppose the Beatles are overrated to, I don't really dislike them, but I certainly don't understand the acclaim they generate. Pink Floyd is another big one.

I don't really see how Patrick Wolf is overrated. He put out three very creative album each one as solid as last and versatile. He's also a ridiculously talented instrumentalist.

His music sucks, folktronica is one of the lamest genre ideas ever and he sounds like the singer for Depeche Mode.

He doesn't sound like the singer from Depeche Mode at all. Folktronica sums up what? 1/3 of his debut album? And his music is probably some of the best music of the past eight years.

Of all the valid things to criticize him for (Occasionally cheap electronic effects, Overly dramatic) why'd you choose his voice? Christ.

Well considering his debut album was recorded on his laptop you can hardly blame the production for not sounding like a Britney Spears album. I think it sounds fine and jackhammer (who knows quite a bit about electronic music) had no problem with it whatsoever.

While I'm not a Patrick Wolf fan, I have to point out that none of these are really legitimate complaints. You're basically saying it's bad because you don't like it. Sounding like the singer from Depeche Mode is, in no way, inherently bad, and neither is the existence of the folktronica subgenre. You could at least offer some specific insight as to why you think other people shouldn't like his music, which is what you're saying by calling him overrated, rather than simply saying that he doesn't gel with your preferences.

I said occasionally. I love Patrick Wolf ya' know. But let's admit that there are certain songs (Teignmouth, specifically) which are better off without the electronic effects.

That's just out of placed electronic effects, not cheap electronic effects. I don't really see a problem with them being there anyway.

Cheap/out of place, big difference. Anyway look up the live version of Teignmouth and you'll see why. It's still a good song though.
