I don't actually like tool, but that's beside the point. A friend of mine went to their concert a couple of days ago and came back disappointed.
He said The singer stayed right up the back of the stage for the entire concert as a shadow. Maw.

I've heard Maynard does that, apparently he plays on the idea that many people go for the experience and not primarily to watch him sing, besides, half the time you can't even see him that well anyway, what with all their dark lights and crap.
In contrast, a mate of mine went to the Big Day Out over here in NZ, not really being into Tool all that much and he came back blown away by their performance and completely in love. Keenan proabably wasn't singing from the back of the set for this one though, haha.

The first time I saw them Maynard wasnt seen at all...which is okay if you're a Tool fan...because just being able to hear them perform live is great..

They put on an awesome musical show...they dont do theatre.

I'm a little surprised no one is saying Undertow is their fav. album. That is def. my favorite. It's full of power and some lighter stuff, too. However, as far as 10,000 days, I don't know. It's alright. I think as long as they continue to evolve as artists and people and make the music to make themselves happy, that's all I want out of them. They obviously don't care about making music for the mainstream, so as long as they hav a different sound that challenges u and makes u think, that's all I want. I think 10,000 days succeeded in that aspect.

I think it's a good album. It's just that Tool set the bar so high with their previous albums that it seemed like a disappointment. It grows on me each time I hear it, just like all the others. I've heard a lot of people say that Wings for Marie, and Wings 2 killed the flow of the album, but in case they haven't noticed, no Tool albums really have a flow to them. They have lots of filler tracks and every track basically starts slow or with a certain vibe, and then usually picks up at the end.

Sorry nothing to do with TOOL but just have to say Inspector Grim is a fantastic character! Shame the show only had 2 seasons! :(

10K Days is a good album, but pales in comparison to their previous efforts. Rosetta Stoned and Right in Two are the two masterpieces off the album.

I saw them a while back, and trust me, with all the lights and visuals, seeing the band 'rock out' really isn't that important.

Lately, though, Maynard seems to be really lazy live, not even bothering to sing certain lines (such as the climatic last few lines of Vicarious). Like, come on, don't be an asshole. I would've been pissed if he pulled that kind of shit when I saw them. Costed me $90 for one damn ticket.

And apparently they've been playing essentially the same setlist at every show for over a year now. You'd think they'd get bored of it after a while...

Anyway, as far as 10,000 Days goes, I agree with Merkaba. I like most of the tracks individually, but as a whole it just doesn't seem to flow that well - which is pretty disappointing because, as they proved with Ænima and Lateralus, Tool are a band that can write amazing albums that I personally can only imagine listening from beginning to end, no skipping around.
