How does it get on your nerves? It only gets a post once a month or so (iirc).

It doesn't get on my nerves, but I was referring to the possibility that some people might get annoyed by people asking for help with no intention of staying in the forum.

Obviously, I'm not saying anything about my own opinions on this matter, because I joined last October and you've been around for nearly eight years now, so I'm happy to not make any judgement at all.

^^if it were only a case of people dropping by and not staying, you might as well get rid of the intros section as well

about 20 say hi and only 1 or 2 stay every month

So you created a topic on this on the off-chance that some people might not like it, in order to... find out that most people are ok with it, and some people don't like it? If there was any real problem with this particular subforum, surely it would have been voiced before now...

You're trying too hard, Salami :P

No, I really was more interested in actually finding out what people thought, not on the off chance of anything. As a matter of fact, the response is very different from what I was expecting, and people have given me some good reasons for it's existence. If nothing else, at least I've been educated a little, and I think it has helped to make the forum's policy on this a bit clearer.

Well, I thought the same as Big3. If it "isn't useful" (as he put), then I didn't get why it was still around.
Obviously I wasn't suggesting for any action to be taken about it, that would be reflected in the poll.
It was just helpful for me personally to understand a little bit more about why it's there.

I went with other. To be honest I joined because of the name-that-tune section. I was trying to find the name of an old track and there seemed to be a decent collective music knowledge so I thought this would be a good place to ask. Nobody ever named my tune but I found this was a great place to learn about new/unheard music so I'm still here.

I don't generally bother naming any tunes for anyone else either, mainly because there are such useless descriptions of where they heard the song it's impossible to guess what it is and even if you do know the song they never come back and say whether you were right or not so it's a pretty fruitless exercise.

btw. If you want to name my tune
