That's easy, it's Stairway To Heaven

And of course, if you don't want to post there, you don't have to!
It's always nice to help people as well, even if they don't stick around. We don't want to earn a reputation as cunts either by telling them to go fuck off, as a lot of them are not doing any harm or not trying to promote something (although a lot are unfortunately). I'm not sure if it boosts the site's Google ratings or not but it's no harm to have.

By the way your avatar is distracting.

This is a great point - there are people here who love to help and share their musical knowledge, and this is to be encouraged. And I suppose that the Name that tune section is a great way of applying that, not to mention giving a good impression.

It took me years and years to find the proper name of this song as it's quite an abscure song title. I had a crush on a guy when I was 10 years old who used to sing this and I've loved it ever since!

Ah sorry, this was the other reason I wasn't sure about this. I haven't been here that long, but I did use the search tool but didn't find anything recent, so I was hoping there would be some new ideas about it. I did think that something like this might have been done, but sorry if everyone's heard this all before.

Aw, that's great! It's good that there are "success stories" from that section, it's quite a tune!

All those years and all you needed to do was google "everybody needs a bosom for a pillow".

I'm just wondering how useful people consider this section of the forum to be. I don't doubt that there are some songs that people liked to hear on there, but it seems to me that the number of people sticking around after posting in that section is either very small on nonexistent.
I've also not seen any of the regular members start a thread in there either (but that's really just in the last 5 months I have been a member here).
I'm wondering if people think it still constitutes an important part of this forum or if it has worn out it's usefulness.
No one thinks its useful. Are you suggesting we remove it?

I suggest the following compromise. Anytime someone asks some assanine question, we can hit them with something to the effect of this.

I thought there might be a general opinion like that, if the consensus was that it served no purpose and got on everyone's nerves, then there would be a case for suggesting that it should be archived. However, that's not the response the poll showed, particularly the fact that every single moderator who has posted in this thread says it serves a purpose.

The point is that some people here like to use their knowledge to help other people out, and this section I suppose is a good opportunity for that.
