That's really sad to hear.

She didn't like me at all even though I tried to befriend her and considering this was during my "anti-SJW" edgelord phase I can now see that she had a good reason not to like me. She blocked me on Facebook a long time ago and that was the last time I've heard from her. I really wanted to patch things up with her, it's a shame.

I'll always be grateful to her for one reason, she had pretty cool taste in music and got me into some great post-punk, she even made me a compilation of punk/post-punk bands with female vocalists that I still have on my iTunes to this day, it's got stuff like The Slits, LiLiPUT, Delta 5, Ludus, Family Fodder and Essential Logic all of which I've delved deeper into since then. I still think of her when I listen to any of those bands.

Thanks for being a friend and always making me laugh (just yesterday I thought of something funny you once posted here - something about the unlikelihood of a publisher falling out of a plane and crashing into your bedroom - and I broke into hysterics. )
That actually happened last week!!!

Oh, wait. Was that a dream? Maybe. I get so confused. Who are you again? Where am I? A pound of best rib steak please and four lamb ch - what do you mean, this isn't a butcher's shop?

Hermione legally changed her name before she died. Her legal name was "Hermione" and I believe "Dayna" was a real reminder of a life she was trying to get away from. I know this because I was young and didn't really understand gender Identity issues and refused to call her "Hermione". She stopped talking to me because of it.

I think the least I can do now that she's passed on is to remind people that she is to be remembered as "Hermione".

I don't understand, both Dayna and Hermione sound like female names, how does gender identity play into it?

This is just a post about agreeing, really, because these comments have essentially been made by others already:-

Very good to have you back again, ribbons. I'm sorry that your family has once again been going through difficult times, and i hope your niece and others will be ok.

Yep, Dianne has left without a word afaik. I also hope she's ok and comes back soon. She's my South London compatriot and co-contributer to the Architecture thread.

Great choice of name, Queen Boo! congrats.

That's terrible that Hermione has died. TBH, on MB we seemed to dislike each other on sight, but it's shocking that her life should have been so short. That is such a terrible waste for anyone. She used to be in touch with DJChameleon, and I think they met a couple of times irl, but of course DJ has become another Missing Poster.

Lisna, thanks for your kind thoughts (as always), and good to see you again.

Yes, here's hoping that Dianne will return and is improving health-wise.

Agree about the great choice of name, Queen Boo! Welcome back to MB.

I'd heard that Hermione had passed away, which is so terribly sad. I didn't know Hermione personally, but from what I witnessed of her on the forum she was very good-hearted and caring toward her friends. May she rest in peace.

Was it a trans thing?

Cis people have valid reasons to change their names too.

I'm fairly certain she was from somewhere outside Saginaw Michigan. I only remember this because I constantly cited "America" by Simon & Garfunkle.

IIRC she either knew or suspected her parents would disapprove of her life. Either sexually or otherwise, but it's honestly been years. She was a really good person, and she knew how to spit fire. I was honestly shocked when WWWP told me.

If Hermione came out as non-binary then we're probably using the wrong pronouns which sucks.

I’m sure Arya Stark would know but she doesn’t post here anymore. I will try to remember and ask her the next time I speak to her.
