Aren't you always complaining that people don't talk about music on the music forum?

The fact that they were incapable of any sort of musical flourish combined with the dedication to playing rock and roll at its most stripped down form possible removed any distractions from all killer no filler hooks, allowing for pure sonic momentum at all times. They were the ultimate realization of what rock and roll had always promised of visceral simplicity but never quite delivered until then and could never perfect more than they had afterward.

The only thing I can say is that you need to listen to their first three albums on repeat for a week until it clicks and you realize that they were the messiahs of rock and roll.
there's no need to explain the Ramones

they're fantastic, end of story

Richard Hell does mention in his autobio that at the time of meeting him, as well as being seemingly pretty dim, Johnny Ramone really could only play the "claw shape"

referring to the E major Barre chord

On the other hand I remember Billy Zoom (who is a pretty rad guitar player) saying in some interview I read a long time ago that Johnny was a better guitar player than he let on, maybe this was much later in Johnny's life though.

well Ramones songs are in theory every bit as rudimentary as people say, but what's interesting specifically about the guitar is the bassy notes beneath the searing chainsaw

not nerdy enough to dig too much into it, but there's something going on there that makes the guitar almost like a 2nd bass

Yet his audience is many times that of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai (yes, I know my references are old men). His economical style is kind of interesting. He really focuses on what works out for him and.. that's it, it seems like.
