I think the possibility of discussing the moral integrity of our moderators is important, but I'm thinking it might be better to take that up in its own thread.
I'm not running things around here so all I can do is discuss. A lot of the counter arguments made so far rely on misinterpretations and false assumptions. As such, few of them have really been convincing. Hence, I still feel that I have a convincing argument to be made. When I think the guys in charge have understood my arguments, but are still not convinced, that's when it's time to stop pushing. And yes, I expect resistance to be dirty and full of cheap tricks. In my experience, you generally need to patiently discuss something like this for a good while until people tire of trying to troll you into submission or silence. Then you can have a serious discussion. I could participate in off-topic discussion and try to derail the thread. I could try and make a mockery of my opponents, perhaps with witty sarcasm. I could purposely misunderstand my opponents arguments in an attempt to wear them down. I could exaggerate and misinterpret everything in the most awful way possible to make points seem worse than they are. I can do all these things and more, but try to do none of them because I think this important topic deserves more respect than that and so generally do the people who are discussing it. I wish others would extend the same courtesy. The reason I responded to you was because the thread was finally back on track when you made your post. Quote:
Besides, the reason I suggested bolstering the mod team is because implementation and future work of it requires work. If implementation didn't happen, there probably wouldn't be the same need for new mods. Quote:
As a measure to protect the community, I might suggest that a particular moderator could hold position as an "HR Mod" (You know, human relations person, like you might have at work). This person would follow a code of silence and if anyone wanted to anonymously complain about a specific moderator for example, they could take it up with this person.
