Attention to Mods!: On Getting a Post Reported
 

In the past week Exo has PM'ed me twice to inform me that a post of mine had been reported by someone/someones. And that's fine (**** the pansy that reported my posts, though.) However, these are the only times I can remember that a mod has PM'ed me about this, and I'm just wondering if other mods have a policy of contacting members who've been reported.

Either I've been in the dark regarding four years of reported posts, or someone has just decided that they don't like my posting style and is targeting me (due to pussification). I'm not telling mods how to do their jobs -- since I imagine that such PM's may result in the offending member "shooting the messenger", or the mods just don't want to deal with the hassle of doing that with every single reported post -- I'm just trying to clarify as to whether or not I (and other members) have been receiving complaints all this time which I was never aware of.

Batlord, I reported one of your posts because it was a personal attack against someone with whom you don't share a rapport, and a mod deleted the post entirely ... but that was several months ago rather than a recent event.

I had assumed that the mod who deleted your post would have contacted you about it so you'd realize the reason your post was deleted, but apparently that didn't happen?

If a reported post is edited or deleted by a mod, I feel the member should definitely be contacted by the mod in a PM to explain why a post was viewed as a rule violation. So if that is happening now, then I feel that is a good thing.

I mean I just kinda think if ya make a post you know what your doing, you know who might be offened and if you hit post anyways then you don't give a rip about it possibly being reported and removed.So taking that into account, if you recive a pm telling you knock that **** off than you can't say you didn't see it comin.IDK. Just my opinion **** do I know.

Other than spam, I feel reporting posts is indeed pussification. If you ain't got the balls to talk directly (either in thread or by PM) to the poster, I feel it's a real "running to teacher" to go reporting them. Be a man, or a woman, or WhateverDude, and talk to them about it. I would hope if someone took offence at something I wrote I would be contacted by them, not a mod telling me I'd been reported.

I want to be with the cool kids, not the chess club and teacher's pets...

My own personal position is that, if you know the person involved you should engage with them before running to the mods. They have other things to deal with, after all.

I don't honestly think there are too many people here who would be afraid to engage with a member with whose post they had a problem. I'm just saying it's easier and more honest to talk to the person, or try to, rather than just go reporting him or her. I'd respect someone more who took that route than someone who went reporting as their first line of attack. Not to mention that the member who posted may not be aware they had caused offence. I just think it seems sneaky. Spam, anything like that, yes, but a member's post? No. I think you need to talk to the person. It's got nothing to do with being outspoken. If you can't engage with people wtf are you doing here anyway in the first place??

Like ok If it were me, right and one of y'all got your panties in a wad, (man panties or big girl panties) over something I said and I got a pm from whomever over it, right. Ok thats the ****ing end of it. Make the proper adjustment in your behavior and go about your damn day.If curiosity should strike ask the mod who pmed you.
I don't get why Exo doing him a soild by letting him know is a problem , or why some shy members shouldnt use the report post button.

Yeah, and it's always cleared the air after handbags at fifty paces. I'd only report someone if my efforts to sort it out with them personally failed.
That's how I look at it too. I think I've reported two posts in my time here, both of them spammers.

No, I'm just kind of curious if I get my posts reported on a semi-regular basis, and I don't even know it. It would amuse me.
