French pop is loaded with talented female singers like Keren Ann, Francoise Breut and Anngun. Most french pop singers sing in French and the prevailing trends are a retro 60s sound (like Duffy) or a sleek electronic dance sound. Nouvelle Vague is a fantasic French band that does samba covers of early punk and post punk classic.

I like it. It's difficult to find lyrics translations, but at least I've read a few ones.

Luz Casal (a well-known singer and a friend of Daho) made a Spanish cover of Duel au soleil. Besides, they sang it as a duet:

Yes. And I've thought the same thing while listening to songs in Spanish, Portuguese or Italian. But at least, in this case, Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) has mentioned Daho as one of his main influences. By the way: apart from the central meaning, don't you think there is a subtle (and funny) allusion to this matter in Le Premier Jour's video?:
