It's something to the effect of "go to bed, wake up, repeat" -- she's singing about a breakup where her life has become meaningless and routine. Ehhh...don't think it makes it any better really. :) Thanks for the feedback. I should be posting more Turkish music but I never really got into the pop scene here. I prefer traditional songs honestly. :)

And every damn Turkish pop song sounds the same to me...it's always got traditional instruments remixed to be as nightclub-appropriate as possible. :\

Hello people :) I've been away for a long time from this forum and this topic because of some business reasons, but I'm back now :)

It's great to see that you people -especially misspoptart- took the topic where I left off.

I'll post some songs soon, after a long pause :)

Cheers everyone!

So people, I feel like I should start posting some more songs now :)

Today I'll first post a song of 'Koray Candemir'. He used to be the lead singer of a famous Turkish rock band 'Kargo' until 2008. He did some solo stuff afterwards, and also some collaborations with other bands and musicians. I think he is a great guy, not only because of his nice music, but also his charity works etc.

The song is called 'Nefesini Tut', it means 'Hold Your Breath'. This is from his solo album. Sorry for the low quality video and the sound, but it was the best I could find on Youtube with both video clip and song together :) So, enjoy.

Here is another song of him, again from his solo album. I really like this one. The song is called 'İcini Dok', and it has a meaning of -as used in the song- something like 'pour out your heart'.

Now, this third song is from a duo called 'Oyku & Berk'. They are siblings, and have an interesting style. They usually mix arabesque songs with mediterraenean / flamenco style. I am not a fan of arabesque music, but I like mediterraenean styles so much, so I enjoy listening to their music. This song below, is originally belongs to 'Ibrahim Tatlises'. But I think this version is way better than the original one. Here you go;

And finally, here is a bonus for you guys :) I just found this, and it's a new song from the Turkish electro-pop artist 'Beduk'. The song is called 'It's a Riot' and they made the music video using the footage from June 2013 protests in Turkey.

---

I hope you like the songs :) cheers everyone :wavey:

Want to share this amazing and touching song by a local Istanbul band, Pinhani. I'll admit that some of their youtube stuff is a bit low-key and soft, but they are freaking awesome live and can rock a good night venue like no other band I've seen here.

The music video is especially great because the band members (and many others) are doing sign language so that it's just a bit more universal than Turkish would normally lend itself to be. Give it a look. :)

Good bump on this thread, misspoptart! By chance, it turned up a song that I was thinking of hunting for, so you´ve just saved me some tedious searching. Thanks.

I was intrigued by your comment about Pinhani, and found this live clip, which bears out what you say :-

I suppose Simpleman got bored and moved on, so it´ll be nice if you add a song here once in a while - keep us posted on what´s cool in Istanbul.

Hahah, I was probably at that concert! I love it when they do this song!!! Bana hediyeeeeeeeeeeee! If I was there I'd be dancing madcore :)

I'll try to post more frequently, I'm a bit out of touch with Turkish music lately. ^_^

^ Wow, Grindy, that is a great piece of music! I´ve just downloaded the ten tracks I could find of the album, and I am enjoying them while I write this note of grateful thanks. Hints of traditional music overlaid with jazzy musical invention; I´m loving it - and I´m hoping you´ll stay around to swap more recommendations!

@missP : you were at that concert? That´s great! I presume Bana Hediye is a crowd favourite, then? I was going to check out some more of Pinhani´s live material, but as you see, I´ve just dropped everything in favour of Grindy´s recommendation! :o:

Here's another song sung by Pinhani, but this one is an old folk song. I just really love this version of it. :)
