I think you’re speaking within the framework of a very particular state of affairs. I don’t think there’s anyway you think these things, as I imagine they can be, should be illegal. I hear you that these things are unfortunately largely the domain of the deranged right and basically amount to child abuse.

FWIW I’d like to keep a common vision that “school” should be profoundly and radically reorganized in a way that maximizes freedom and capitalizes on how children learn naturally in a cooperative way.

We need to take the prison component out of school. I really think we agree on that and probably always have.

No, but the easiest way to give the most amount of kids the greatest amount of options would be to take public school out of the picture entirely and just give away the top curriculums for free online. I'd have taken that over most of my years in public school, which we can all agree is similar to prison at times. Nobody think charter schools are the answer or whatnot either.
