Surely the point is that, whether you believe it or not, you can't go around spreading **** like this without proper evidence and backup. I don't think your conviction that it's true, or that you personally believe it, matters: you can't just go ****ting on the deaths of kids and their parents' memories without facing the consequences. I don't think the fine was large enough: ****er should have got jail time. **** him and his whole unhinged ****ing cadre of followers.

He's nuts but he's also clearly faking all those weird outbursts for effect. He is not a good actor.

And he's being sued for defamation cause he called the parents crisis actors, says the kids never died, had a whacked out fake journalist stalk the parents, and essentially sicced his neo-Nazi fans on them. I mean not even essentially, he reported the address of one of the parents on-air.

It absolutely sucks that the families, many still grieving, are caught in the middle. The sooner the media and the law can close the book on this, the better.

These are the kinds of charges I can get behind, and these are the things i didn't know. I thought he was just running his mouth. Something I feel very strongly should always be protected.

Editing to add - I'll be looking into Wolfgang Halbig some more. Not following why Alex Jones is on trial instead of that guy. I assume he was as well at some point...

This is not a criminal trial for harassment, this is a civil trial for defamation, because Alex defamed those parents and their children for years on a nationally syndicated radio show.

Ehhhh still think defamation should involve an intentional malice or lie.

Anyways I like Legal Eagle for this kind of thing. Just watched his summary of the initial ruling. Basically Jones didn't comply with discovery several times hence a default judgement... a jury didn't determine anything except value of damages. He did this to himself.

I mean have YOU ever actually listened to Alex Jones? Beyond Youtube clips screaming about gay frogs? It can be easy to think he's just a crank if that's where you get your idea of him from. Dude's a malicious grifter.

And I go for the Knowledge Fight podcast. It covers all Alex's daily shows and debunks his nonsense. One of the hosts was at the deposition that came before this trial as an expert witness (or something) for the plaintiff's attorneys cause there probably isn't a sane person alive who's as much of an Alex Jones expert.

Not that it matters, but I wonder how he'll pay off his fine? I doubt he's worth that much, despite all of the crap he sells. I remember seeing a bit on him on John Oliver's show.
