I can’t believe people actually think someone should be given power over others because more people punch a hole next to their name. Stupid af.

Yeah, thats how it works.. lol

Just a reminder: the Trumpster is still playing 4d interdimensional backgammon and we're all pieces in his master plan.

This is actually something I've been thinking on very heavily recently.

It is and it's garbage. I mean it all starts with parents and teachers instilling subservience in you, but bosses justify it in the real world when you're an adult who should have absolute freedom to decide your fate and be whoever you want to be.

Every time you hold your tongue when you think you have something to say that a boss might take umbrage with, or even just do what a boss says because they have power over your ability to feed yourself, it degrades you and reinforces the notion that there are people superior to you who you are obligated to treat differently to anybody who doesn't have power over you.

It retards your ability to think freely or believe yourself to be equal to all other humans. It's what conditions people to treat aristocrats and politicians as authority figures to follow. It's what conditions people to simply go along with the flow of society even if that society is murdering six million Jews. It maneuvers your thinking processes to be whatever society decides you should be thinking.

Fair enough. Nothing is all bad.

I'm sure you can see how a picture can be built up without blaming Warren for publishing her DNA results when challenged to do so by Trump.

The Batlord 10-15-2018 06:22 PM

It's all the same ****ing thing. It all distracts from intelligence and encourages us to side with this or that side and ignore any kind of bigger picture so that we can feel that we're winning something even though we're losing the battle for the human race.

My significance is more of a watermark of how our government is deteriorating. The general reporting seems to be painting it as another way to make the very easy claim that the T-man is a moron.

Not a great reason to push that boat along further.

Trump brought us there, but she made the jump into that abyss. That's stooping to his level. This move might get her a lot of high fives at the gym, but like steroids, that can be very unhealthy and artificial.

windsock 10-15-2018 06:31 PM

^ This guy and his watermarks...sheesh

I do genuinely think that part of Trump is a masterclass troll. By her biting his bait she's come out more of a fool than he.

^ Well, yes and no. Can you push along a boat that's already sailed? TBH, I'm happy to forget about this metaphor if you are, Frownland.

^ You started this morning by laughing your a off about the Warren story being headline news, but now you seem determined to paint it as some dark turning point in the history of American politics.

I see your point, windsock, but then what were her options? If she hadn't done the test, the whole Pocahontas story might've dribbled on for months with Trump's mounting accusations that she was afraid to submit to a test. If Frownland and the MSM could only let the story go, then Warren will have nipped that whole Birther-style nonstory scenario in the bud.

*ahem* :-

A story that I though would get more coverage is about the 53,000 voter applications put on hold in Georgia. Kemp is blocking voters' rights on a bureaucratic technicality while simultaneously running as a candidate in the electorial fight. Has anyone ever seen a boxing match in which one of the boxers is also the referee? It's so obviously unfair as far as I can see. It's a blatant disruption of the democratic process, but because it's to the Republicans' advantage, there isn't a single check or balance that's stopping it - all the checks and balances are now in the hands of the Republicans.

She has no options because she has royally ****ed herself by using her 1/64th (at best) Cherokee heritage to list herself as a minority in the AALS for 9 years. That's just the short of it. Ultimately Trump is taking advantage of the ***** in her armor to make her look like an asshat and there's really no way she can completely deflect it. But she can soften it a bit by ignoring Trump. Schoolyard bullies feed off of attention, remember. Her waving her fraction of a fraction of Native American ancestry like it was some great win for her was an idiotic move that made her look even worse. Not even the Cherokee nation thinks it gives her any credibility- in fact, they framed it as "inappropriate and wrong."

It isn't an issue of the MSM letting the story go. It's an issue of her letting the story go, for her sake.

In short:

Lisnaholic 10-15-2018 08:05 PM

^ Yes, it's a ludicrously small % and definitely doesn't entitle her to minority status, so her previous position is pretty indefensible. I wonder what on earth she was thinking?!

Honestly she could chalk it up to the school hounding any of the whiteys for anything to show that the school had a diverse staff and her grandpappy bragged about being a Cherokee so she was like this cracker's got Cherokee blood in it.

OccultHawk 10-15-2018 09:48 PM

She really ****ed up lol

The Cherokee Nation issued a statement

“Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage”

She’s supposed to be a champion of civil rights but when her served her even ever so slightly upset she made it less likely for a native person to get a job. It’s funny how badly Trump trolled her. Funny that she still respects the presidency enough to respond. Funny how Trump manipulated her. Funny that she did all this just to end up proving that she’s completely full of ****. Trump gives her a stupid nickname and keeps saying it until it crushes her.

And when Trump was asked about using bankruptcy laws to **** over Atlantic City he simply said hell yes that was the best way for me to make the most money. Completely true and most people thought yeah that’s reasonable. Warren’s base holds her to standards. It’s win win win for Donaldo.

^ My guess is that celebrity-bashing is a lot more entertaining than talking about how the Republicans are undermining American democracy at the roots by effectively disenfranchising social groups who are likely to vote Dem.

They've introduced a raft of voter ID laws across the states that have a discriminatory effect - notably in North Dakota, where they are trying to exclude Native Americans who (as per life on a "reservation" ) do not have a street address. That's the real Native American story, not EWarren.

Plus gerrymandering, plus this:-

That Trump wants to pull the US out of yet another long-standing international agreement is hardly news anymore. What makes this item Wow-I Can't-Believe-It worthy is that on the face of it Trump has a justified grievance about China's status as a developing nation:
