I think that if Guiado successfully ousts Maduro, there'll a similarly difficult transition of power when he's on the way out himself. There are no correct answers to this question.

Gonna be funny to watch Russia spend money on Facebook for Bernie Sanders again in 2020.

I’m not even trying to be nihilistic or start **** but the more I think about the Democrats the more I realize I hate them pretty much the same as Trump

That goes for Yang too

They’re all repulsive-

I can’t really hate anyone anymore than wishing they were dead

I don’t want to torture Trump I just wish he didn’t exist. And that goes for afaik everyone who’s ever been elected to anything.

Let me ask elph

Even if Sanders is by far the best candidate and his policies would greatly improve your life don’t you still... wouldn’t it be gratifying to bring a tire iron against his cranium?

Or not?

Anteater 05-04-2019 09:25 PM

Politicians by definition are completely useless in most respects. Especially all the lifetime bureaucrats who sit in Congress and on the Senate.

I only want to vote for Yang because I hate him a lot less than the other Democrats running and he's not a doofus like Trump. He's also the only person who has extensively documented what solutions he'd actually bring to the table if elected. He doesn't flip flop like Bernie or is pushing to be some kind of non-technical centrist like Pate Buttplug or Beta O' Cuck.

Not in the least, tbh

the one thing he's praised for universally is consistency

Back in the mid 70's, Bernie said that nobody should make over $1 million a year in annual revenue. Even if you adjust that for inflation, Bernie Sanders back then would look at the Bernie Sanders of today and wonder wtf happened.

I'd probably be happier if Sanders held some other position in the next administration than as POTUS. He's just too old and out of touch to have any real understanding of how to deal with challenges that most Americans will actually be facing over the next decade or so. Especially when it comes to automation, AI and other things emerging in the private sector.

I mean, I knew two really well educated capable people in Portland who did that so they wouldnt be forced to finance the war machine.

Not really. The only reason Yang has any chance at all is because Trump became President. He's been a good shakeup to the status quo, especially after two prior elections where China attempted to interfere and nobody seemed to care.

^ 70 hours a week is brutal, though I think I'd rather be in a hot kitchen than in Siberia. If I remember right, a typical workbreak for Ivan D was a mug of boiling water which he drank while squatting on a bit of permafrost that the authorities had designated as a building site. I may not've worked construction in Siberia, but I have waited, in mid-winter, at windswept London bus-stops for over half-an-hour at a time, so I can imagine how Ivan D must've felt. ;)

OccultHawk 05-05-2019 11:53 AM

Once you reach the point where life is severely degraded you’ve entered the threshold of Ivan Denisovich. The refusal to recognize the devastating nature of American capitalism on its lowest tier employees serves to make the reading of Solzhenitsyn exactly half as valuable. And I say half because there’s two lessons to be learned from Solzhenitsyn: 1) the value of perseverance and 2) the nature of oppression. Not understanding that the kitchen or factory or Walmart has become your gulag is to have completely missed the second point and undercuts the universality of the literature. It’s applicable to what I am witnessing. Our willingness to accept and recognize this horrific truth is to render Solzhenitsyn still relevant.

Chula Vista 05-05-2019 03:19 PM

^ That's a real quality post, right there. Can't argue with that, and I really like your analysis of the lessons to be learned from Solzhenitsyn.

Stunning news coming out of England:- Woman Has Baby

The mother and the baby are both well, and the father has announced that he is "absolutely thrilled."
Although it has not been widely reported, some insiders suspect that the birth may be the result of an act of unprotected coitus some nine months earlier.

If smallpox returns it would have to be the result of bio-terrorism and vaccines would be hard for almost anyone to get.
