Problem is it is already damn near impossible to enforce the cultural norm of people wearing masks. People already walk around without them. And nobody knows in a public space whether you've had the vaccine or not so letting them not wear masks just gives cover to all the people who haven't been vaccinated but walk around maskless anyway.

To me it's a sign of disrespect to come near me with out the mask. Whether you've been vaccinated or already had the virus or not. I don't know that. Shut up and put your damn mask on till this **** is over. And I'm saying this as someone who can't wait to not wear these stupid masks. That teacher probably knows more than the public will assume they do. I guarantee the “show your work” bull**** is unevenly applied to black kids who are able to reach the solution while skipping steps. It also reinforces the painfully white and ignorant hypothesis that there’s only one way to skin a cat - the right way which of course is the white way. Plus, the obsession with coming up with the exact number at the end of a math problem instead of demonstrating an ability to understand the process is from what I’ve seen an almost uniquely American way to teach mathematics. They don’t obsess over the final number in Korea or Japan the way American teachers do. And it’s not like American teachers don’t represent a classist white hegemony.

That's definitely true. And sexist too of course, but in my experience the sexism thing is improving much faster than the racism. Studying anything STEM is still a white sausagefest.
It's partly managing to make even math subjective by teaching it badly for the reasons you mentioned, but I also think part of the problem is that there's a huge stigma around those subjects, so many people don't even consider it.
