Mississippi Inmates Break Out, Rob Store, Sneak Back In to Sell Stolen Items

Break out of jail to get merchandise to break back in and sell. Good idea on paper but poor execution. Or maybe just stay out of jail if you break out.

Yeah that's some jail mentality **** right there. If you're out of jail in the fresh air and your first priority is to go back to legal fascism then you're done for this life, bro.

It happens even when people are released legally. All they know is jail life and can't survive or get a job when they come out and end up struggling so badly they just go back in.

All jail does is stamp you with a Scarlett letter and when you get out you have less opportunities to turn your life around.

Yeah jail as rehabilitation is a pretty nonsensical idea atm.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 09-23-2017 12:20 PM

i think there's a growing number of programs aimed at rehabilitating prisoners for regular life after their sentence is up that they can start during this final months of prison and after their release.

i'm sure this isn't a popular and easily accessible system yet but i think it will make a big difference in the cycle eventually.

I dunno about the US or other countries, but here in Ireland prison is a ****ing joke. Sky TV, computers, regular visits, good meals, the whole bit. Why would you not want to go back when you get out? If they made (and I realise this is a controversial opinion, but **** it) jail a tougher, less bearable experience maybe people would be less eager to risk going back to it? It's hardly a deterrent as it is. Plus you have the gangs running things anyway so it must be hard to try to go straight after you get out.

In the US, it is decidedly not a joke.

Fair enough, but here it is. I'm not saying it's not hard, and I certainly wouldn't want to be there myself. But if you're any sort of a criminal and used to that sort of thing it can't be too hard to bear. It's certainly not what you'd call a deterrent.

Do you really just want to make a person miserable for years on end?
