You didn't hear in that 5min video. The bearded good guy was going to get his gun. He kinda looks like Dan Blizaran.

Cuthbert 10-02-2017 02:40 PM

So what do you guys think should be done about the guns then?

Leave at as it is as it's gone too far/too many guns/pointless?

Tighter controls/background checks before purchasing?

Ban them (I know it's not possible now)?

Granted I'm not American, but if I lived over there I'd want the authorities to clamp down hard on firearms now. Yeah it will still happen, but 1 mass shooting is better than 100, and the less weapons among the population, the less likely stuff like this is to happen.

It doesn't matter what we the people want. NRA and other gun lobbyists has congress on lockdown with their handouts.

Alright I'm not gonna go back and quote somebody five pages back, but I don't think it makes sense to call this terrorism. I don't think it makes sense to call that Muslim who shot up the gay bar terrorism (even if I did at the time I'm calling bull**** on myself). To me making the definition of terrorism is so vague as to become useless. Including this or Columbine or other "lone wolf" attacks or attacks by people who are just crazy, angry, and isolated from society makes no sense. Why should any of those acts be equated to 9/11 or suicide bombings perpetrated by organizations who are essentially non-state armies? It's just a way to talk about muslim terrorists without using the word "muslim".

Even if it's not the dictionary definition I think the only way for terrorism to make sense as a concept is to use it to describe those paramilitary organizations like Al Qaeda and the IRA that operation in those general modus operandi. Cause, again, what's the point of putting this guy in Vegas in the same boat as Osama Bin Laden? What the **** do they even have in common besides killing a bunch of civilians? What purpose is being served?

And yeah I was definitely a cock in that thread about the Paris shooting.

stricter gun laws, yeah. but the right and left are too busy yelling at each other so they don’t realize they could v easily compromise on the issue and move forward with a much safer and smarter policy in effect.

a big part of is assumptions, seems like a lot of key figures on the right think everyone on the left wants to “take their guns,” while it seems like the left tends to think that everyone on the right wants no gun regulations whatsoever. if it wasn’t such an us vs them mentality we wouldn’t have to have this conversation.

there’s nothing more disgusting than social media after an event like this. half of the people are hoping the killer is muslim so they can use it for their agenda, the other half wants him to be white so that they can.

people can be gross.

Why is he waiting till Wednesday? Doesn't he have casinos and hotels there?

Yeah, that really helps doesn't it?

That's why Trump spoke so soon and with such passion. His mind can't see that far with passion. He's a near sighted leader.

58 mostly white people killed by gunman at a country music festival = OH THE HUMANITY. WE MUST STAND TOGETHER.

58 brown/black people killed by gunman at an Arabic music festival in Iran = I don't want to go to the middle east. It's crazy there. I wonder what's on Bravo right now.

The second scenario is fictionalized but I truly feel like this is how a lot of people respond when they hear of news like this overseas.

You're exactly correct. The closer to home it hits (both geographically and racially) the more we react. The further it is from us, and the more different the people are, it's nothing to do with us.

That was quick. Should have taken a PR course for an elective in law school.

Or just a course in how to pass for a human being.

The bad guy had an automatic rifle. A glock would kind of be outclassed.

I know you’re being dumb, but the idiocy of your post is nonetheless maddening.

It's supposed to be ironic.
