I respect anyone who has a logical basis for their opinions. I respect people who have some knowledge of the topic of discussion and who form their opinions from reasonable, fact based information.

If however, the person I'm talking to has no understanding of the topic, and does not even try to cite facts and their sources to back up their claims, then I really lose all respect for them in said debate. If you had but once, just once, listed any credible source from which you get your information, it would be a very different story. But you haven't; and I've long since come to the conclusion that you never will.

If something is nonsense for one person it is always nonsense. Objective truths don't change from person to person. You being a complete numbskull is a proven fact. You yourself have openly admitted to not knowing the first thing about the policies in question while attempting to prove an invalid point about them. You keep spewing rightist propaganda and then tagging it as fact but NEVER give sources. Discussing politics with you is the equivalent to discussing politics with my shoe.

It'll be a little hard for me to do the equations, because i got bored with the core curriculum and was allowed to take senior level courses in my second quarter, after my first grades (and what i like to think of as 'the rumor') got around.

Right now, Obama is popular. i've said that we'll not know what would have happened if the reverse had been true.

i base what i think on MY OWN readings/research, if you could call it that. And my own brain cells. We all do. WE are the ultimate judges of what we believe is real and true. Nes c'est pas?

First, if you're going to use a foreign language to make yourself seem more intelligent, use it correctly. If you were going for the French equivalent of "is it not?" then the correct phrase is "N'est-ce pas?"

Secondly, of course we all realize that the global economies are interconnected. What we fail to understand is how obama's popularity has ANYTHING to do with the current financial crisis. Care to elaborate on that or will we all have to be content to think you as much an uninformed crackpot as we do now?

THOSE are the sites i look for, but they are FEW and far between.

Unbelievably enough, i want some truth ~ about all of it. i go to sites like that to stimulate my brain ~ i actually have to think about the things she's saying, about both sides.

And i suppose this is going to sound REAL [ insert synoym for dumb ] to you, but i actually do love america and the lifestyle i live (no helps ~ just getting by), and i don't want to lose it. Right now, if i want to do my nursery business, i can. No one is bothered by me making a little cash on the side, especially since i don't ask anyone to support me, in any way, shape or form. When this all shakes out, i'm really afraid that i'll be out on the ranch, wishing we'd bought MORE guns, ammo, seeds, etc. <sigh>

Ethan? The truth is, the last thing i need is 'YOUR BIG FAT RESPECT.'

That's not to say i wouldn't LIKE it...

But in the big scheme of things, it just doesn't really matter much.

Devvy Kidd is openly a member of a right-wing party, that is neither a fair nor balanced stance for a journalist. She isn't remotely objective. The constitution party (who she ran for!) is against the first amendment and that aside she's completely in the tank for Ron Paul.

I don't understand why I need to show you what I read considering I've cited sites disproving your claims and bolstering mine plenty of times but anyway when I'm on the internet I read the BBC and the New York Times. As far as papers go it's two local papers (The Seattle Times and the Stranger) and I watch pretty much most of the news organizations on TV except Fox which I do watch I just don't take anything I see on it very seriously. Same with CNN actually.

How could you say that? You don't have the vaguest idea of what a logical argument consists of.

That isn't to make you feel bad ~ i don't have the vaguest idea about, well, music and the categories and genres and sub-genres. We ALL have areas that we could use some improvement in!

But anyway ~ i don't want to be confrontational. i just want you to open your eyes. The man you think hung the moon, didn't. Neither did the other candidate. Start educating yourself, and make a decision/choice that can speak to the larger pic. i know you're concerned about the future ~ for canada and the u.s., but you really need to go back a bit, get some history and time-lines that you can look at (you seem to be a cognitive thinker) and go from there.

I have three points to make here:
1. No one has suggested Barack Obama hung the moon. I don't know who you heard that from (Hannity or Limbaugh?) but this whole attitude you conservatives take about Obama is ridiculous. Just because we support him doesn't mean we think he's the messiah so stop acting condescending and implying we do. I don't even believe in a messiah.
2. You need to educate yourself, you read news you considered unbiased thats written by a former right-wing politician who is now just a right-wing journalist.
3. Don't try and lecture anyone on logic. Seriously how thick are you? I'd be surprised if your IQ exceeded fifty.

As someone who is typically the resident anti-Jibber I can honestly say, no. If there is anything Jibber is halfway decent at its formulating logical arguments. On the other hand, if there is something she's terrible at its letting her emotions intercept those logical arguments thus negating them.
