Well, it's a moral problem of course. Regardless of all pros and cons, some think it's not right to use violence as a means to raise kids .. You should know this already seeing as such punishment methods are illegal in several countries now.

Wow, that's a really tough situation?

I've got it!!!

How about those with moral qualms about physical punishment DON'T commit physical punishment and those who don't have a problem with it can decide if they want to do it or not? What do you think?

Considering issues of morality have been discussed here before (and will continue to be discussed since it's partly what this section of the board is for) your post is pretty useless.

Are you referring to my post?

Toretorden brought it up, not me. I addressed what he said, and seeing as how I never gave an opinion on the moral aspects of this situation, I think it's fair I get to voice my mind even if that topic has come and gone.

Yeah but your opinion comes across as more you mocking any discussion on the subject as a whole as opposed to a sincere opinion.

No, my point is that parents should have the ability to decide what's best for their kids. They don't need someone else preaching what's best for their kids.

But what if the kids don't want to be physically abused like that? You're giving them no say in the manner and as they're the one receiving the punishment they should be allowed some level of choice in the matter.

Don't get in trouble then. If they don't want it, they'll stay out of trouble and the physical discipline will have done it's job. Punishment is a message: "don't do it again".

That's genius..I never thought of giving my kids the choice of punishment.
Not that I beat them, but I always force a punishment on them of which they have no input.
I'm going to give that a try.
