Maybe we need more homosexuals in the military if we're going to win a multi-fronted war.
Sacred Band Of Thebes...look them up on wikipedia or something. They were Greek, but still.

But Romans were great for different reasons...

They don't keep men and women separate, except for sleeping quarters obviously. (And also the slowly changing women in combat situation)
In fact, the only relationships that are prohibited between men and women in the armed forces are those between enlisted and officers, and those between non-commissioned officers and lower enlisted in the same unit. For instance: In the Army, as an E-4 or below, you would not be able to get with an E-5 or above.
It's simply a matter of avoiding favoritism within a unit. (which still goes on, both racially and sexually)

The homosexuality issue lies more at the heart of our still prevalent nonacceptance of the concept. When the military is involved with those matters, they are generally "allowed" to be more stringent than civilian life because of the detrimental roles of the men and women comprising such strictly controlled institutions.
Regardless of the obvious contradictory nature of the whole matter in relation to heterosexuals being able to express their sexuality, not to mention how African Americans' involvement in the military became common, we're still able to recognize the fact that it will take some time before this situation is rectified.

I see ourselves as a society becoming more accepting of homosexual rights and I think it's a good thing. I'm willing to bet everything that this whole issue will be resolved in time. All we can do until then is continue to educate people and provide insights into this kind of thing.

We all know it happens anyway though. especially on ships on deployment. Little E-2 and E-3 girls are always getting caught messing around with officers. Sometimes it get swept under the rug, I'm not exactly sure if any exchange of favors takes place but the whole thing is normally pretty shady. It's also no coincidence that the CO's assistant is always the most attractive female with an admin related rate. Sex plays a super huge role in the NAvy for sure.

Really? That would have been the only branch I'd have joined too. Had an air of merit-based-promotions to it.

Thats disappointing to hear.

Ugghhhh I hate this terrible homophobic rant, a very common one made by 'I don't have any problems with gays except...' people.

Yeah big time. My LPO is a first class married to a master chief(totally against regulations E-6/E-9). lets just say she didn't make first class until after they were married. Thats how it goes. Attractive females have it the absolute best in todays navy.

More like upwards of 6 thousand on deployment with full air crew on board. But of course theres going to be hippity dippity going on. Just remember there's 7 hotdogs for every 1 bun... and highest rank gets first dibs. Think of it that way.

I see.

Now what if I'm a low rank, lets say E-2, but I'm stunningly attractive. Could I get some officer tail on the sly and make like nothing happened or would said officer find out and feed me to a shark?
