Well, basically what DJ said. If you're a paedophile then people should try and help you with it. If you haven't abused a child and have no intention of it (which includes child porn) then you shouldn't be thrown on a register and treated as a social pariah because of having some unlucky sexual preferences.

I intended 'paedophile' to mean someone who sexually assaults a child,
but it's a totally unnecessary reference. Just ignore that whole sentence.

Okay. I get and agree with that completely. Although I'd say any kind of rapist shouldn't really have the right to practice it.

Clearly you can't read properly because if you could, you would see I don't claim to know how you feel about anything. It says "if you".
Right, it says, "if you".... and to answer your question
"if you are diabetic, you shouldn't eat too much sugar", would you accuse me of calling you a diabetic?

No.

But:

"if you are diabetic( HHB f.ex), you shouldn't eat too much sugar", would you accuse me of calling you a diabetic?

Then, yes, because I'm taking "f.ex" to mean, "for example". Understand?

Anyways, we're debating semantics. As long as you recognize that's not my position, that's fine.

Nonsense, there is no "bad luck" in becoming a paedophile. It's not as though there's a paedophile gene; these are individuals who are the embodiment of dangerous mental illness. Paedophiles are a blight on a society, and anyone diagnosed as a paedophile should spend their life in a mental institution for the good of society. Anyone who acts on their paedophilia should be executed.

Who's to say there isn't some genetics involved in it? Many people with off-kilter sexualities reckon it's a combination of the environment and their genetic makeup. And even then, is it really their fault for having a messed-up life that produces odd preferences?

If homosexuality is not a 'choice' then is it genetic?
Is pedophilia a choice or is it genetic?
Are they both psychological, or neither?

I don't believe for a second that homosexuality is a choice. With the amount of discrimination and disadvantages of it if you're actually hetero, why would anyone choose to go against their impulses for it?

Paedophilia is a mental illness. Homosexuality is not.

I wouldn't define it as a mental illness. You could almost call it a fetish. There are certain things that turn people on that they can't control and that's one of them. There are very few things that I think that people should not be allowed to practice, and paedophilia obviously falls into that category.

I don't believe it's a choice either, but I think it's possible certain things in early childhood could trigger something. Society certainly contributes to forming many common characteristics based around sexuality like it does with gender, but as for the physical attraction itself, I doubt it.
