Exactly.

If you wanna tout yourself as something as a professional with years of experience in the field, and then have an Bio like that, it's very hard to take anything you say seriously. Yes, of course you can joke around. But if I went to a therapist and they had a t-shirt on, like:

I'm gonna take everything they say with a pound of salt.

I couldn't disagree more. When people get to the point of suicide, they're not doing it as a "f*ck you" to everyone else, they're doing it to end their suffering. Not all problems have solution, and not all issues in life can be mended by seeking help or counseling.

How can you speak for everyone? How do you know what everyone is thinking? Many people have been to that point but not gone through with it. I've been there myself. When things get bad enough that you're in that mindset, you'd give anything to just get away from the pain. Whether it's suicide or just up and moving to the other side of the world, something has to be done. It has absolutely nothing to do with other people.

Is committing suicide any more selfish than your family or friends expecting you to live in misery just to appease them?

There's a difference between being whiny and selfish, and being realistic about your situation. Everyone'e scenario is different and unique. Would you rather a person divorce their wife, leave their family, cut all ties from society, and THEN commit suicide? That seems to nullify everyone's claims of "selfishness."

So you'd rather feel pain and suffering than nothing at all?

The Japanese have viewed 'seppeku' (a ritual self-disembowelment at their own hands, as a way to die with honor) as a most noble and respectable act for centuries.

And some guy named JESUS also chose to die when he could have easily stopped it. No one is calling him a coward for choosing to die.

Both require the 'selfish' act of 'abandoning' your family and loved ones, which everyone here seems to feel is the main reason for believeing that suicide is cowardly.

Anyone who believes that he is a "medical professional" or "drug counselor" needs to have their head examined. Apparently Wikipedia and a DSL connection makes everyone a f*cking expert. Last week he was a college student studing philosophy and religion, now he's a heroine addict turned drug counselor, next week he's going to be the King of England. What a joke.

pooka 04-11-2011 02:36 PM

too bad the opinions of small kids dont faze me. see you around the forum.

Sansa Stark 04-11-2011 02:40 PM

Apparently they do if you feel the need to fervently, frequently, and so defensively respond!
