You can't just assume that those 8 men were casual friends who liked to hug. Maybe they were family? Maybe they were very close friends?
family, ahha, I hadn't thought of that. But I did assume they were close friends already.

Are you from the West Indies or do you just go to school there? I ask because my West Indian in-laws are much more huggy than my family is and wonder if it's a cultural difference or just a family difference.

I am indeed from the West Indies! Trinidad to be exact, but yeah, I actually do think it's a cultural thing because it isn't abnormal to see guys hugging and whatnot. Pretty normal actually.

I'm an awkward hugger, like everyone I hug is my grandma or something

I get the feeling that all those smiles are an attempt at satire

In my family the guys usually just shake hands. If it's been a long time since you've seen each other there might be a handshake/one-handed hug combo but that's just with my dad and my brother. So it was a bit of an adjustment when I first started going to family events with my wife because all her uncles and cousins and whatnot would give me full on two-armed hugs, but now I sort of like it. Definitely makes you feel welcome.

Yeah definitely, but it's not like we hug every day or anything, it's a periodical type thing, but it's something that does make you feel more welcomed. You guys ever saw this video?

A hug can definitely brighten a person's day
