I'm curious, in regards to those who participated in this thread & are upset by this act of violence, have any of you done anything about it?

Come a long way? Sure, that's why the 20th century saw the Holocaust, the Great Leap Forward, the firebombing of Tokyo.... all the while proclaiming the notion of some sort of progress from barbarism!

It's funny how I raised several focused points with you and the only response that you can think of, is violence by the state against prisoners! Also you seems to have the wrong end of the stick regarding incarceration as well, as it's is commonly known today especially in Europe, that prisons are more like holiday camps due to prisoner freedoms, reduced serving times and the leniency of the prison service. I guess if prisons were like in "Midnight Express" "Cool Hand Luke" and the "Shawshank Redemption" then you would have a point.

I'm limiting my responses out of laziness & boredom.

History repeats itself, it's a common phrase.

Those acts of barbarism have existed and more will occur etc, but man has progressed as a species and through modern media, is more aware of what goes on in the world today than they would've done just a few decades ago.

The issue at hand here though, is not really how man has progressed, but how you as an individual justify the way that you think? You're not on trial, but I think the forum is curious to know, whether your opinions are actually what you really believe or are just attempts at gaining a bit of spotlight on a public form!

I'm glad you told us, nobody would've guessed it.

I went to his Twitter and gave him a piece of my mind. I feel so rejuvenated.

Really no one should not praise or trivialize that kind of violence. I'm against it, and since I don't know the people involved all I can really do is speak out against it (or any other example), when it is brought up in conversation. Other members and I might have zero influence on lil Reese, but at least you can know that I along with other membes are against that violent act. I don't know how influential other people can be on the internet - but I think it's possible you can pick up on something positive from other people on the internet, even though that is rarely the case. You yourself can weigh the opinions of other people and that can help you to further form your opinion, or at least help you understand your position better - this is the case any subject or issue really.

Exactly this.

And the implication that the violence is somehow worse or more shocking because it was against a woman is quite misogynist.

Violence is something that has become more common in America than ever. Hatred and Racism in America has been on a incredible increase.
