Not sure how common it is. Basically why we had our son circumcised. He was scared to use the toilet at school because he was embarrassed the other kids would hear him screaming from the pain when he urinated.

No the pain was before he was circumcised. Basically the foreskin would blow up like a balloon when he urinated because the opening was so tight and it caused pressure back up the urethra.
